The Drew Valentine love is crazy IMO. Wait until he’s gotta recruit and coach his own team. If he finishes 6Th in the a10 next year will we ever hear about him again?
A10?

Joining next year. Conference realignment and A10 had to make a move.

Our terrible out of conference schedule looks a little better with St. Peter's knocking off Kentucky and Colgate giving Wisconsin hell right now.
Or does their success just magnify how those teams improved while other teams did not?
That record is skipping again. Don’t doubt your passion for the team and desire for the Johnnies to win. And, don’t discount your concerns.

But, neither Colgate nor St.Peter’s would beat us if we come to play. Kudos to St. Pete’s and, while I hope They keep it up, Rider did what they probably wouldn’t have done - beat Iona.

As I said a few weeks ago, I just did not see BE teams doing much damage in Dance. Looks like PC has good chance to advance one more round,. I could see Nova having a tough challenge with Ohio State’s size and defense & their own lack of depth, but certainly can win. Kansas will be too much for gritty, well coached Creighton. I love the competitive Big East, but also feel as Mase and a few noted, the League loses a lot of players next year as well. We’ll see how rosters pan out with transfers, but could be another challenging 22-23 season re Dance chances to make noise. On that I am way ahead of myself and we’ll see.
I have a question for you, and please let’s keep this civil. All year long I read from multiple posters that one of the reasons for St. John’s disappointing season was the strength of the Big East conference. Now many posters (not saying you) who used this excuse all season long are now saying that they don’t expect the conference to do anything in the Dance? What?  Obviously if the conference was as tough as depicted by many, why can we not expect more success in the Dance?  And by the way, other then Nova, I’ve always believed that Creighton was the best coached team in tge conference.

Wright with Villanova has done remarkable things, as has Few with Gonzaga. Overall, college basketball is tilted in favor of conferences that have football programs and football money. That's not a new thing, and if you look at the programs that were ruling the Big East pre-realignment they all played football.

The Big East is a great conference for fans as it has tremendous balance top-to-bottom, and is able to produce a lot of solid teams. That leads to many great conference games that go down to the wire, and also an annual high percentage of the league qualifying for the NCAAs 72 team tournament. It does not equate to teams that should be expected to have big runs in that tournament. This year six teams were picked and considering how the NCAA picks the teams I can't argue with the picks. Because of how they pick and seed them (totally math based with games in November the same as games in February and March) I will list the seeds they used, and the ones I would have used based on watching these teams play a close to 20 game season against each other. Numbers are NCAA first, mine second.

- Villanova (2) (2)
- Providence (5) (3)
- UCONN (5) (7)
- Creighton (9) (6)
- Marquette (9) (11)
- Seton Hall (8) (12)
- Xavier (First Four out) (Zero consideration)

So sure Seton Hall and Marquette deserved to go under the system, good for them, but Seton Hall hasn't really been the same since Aiken went down and Marquette faded late as well. On the other hand Creighton brushed off losing Nembard and has been playing well the entire last month. And if you go by the NCAA system, with two nines and an eight, 1-2 in the three games is about right anyway. Since they gave UCONN a five seed I thought they could win one game. That was a mild surprise. However, the two best teams all year won their first games easily.

Overall if you look at the NCAA seeds only Villanova should be expected to be playing after Sunday. Since Providence and UCONN had five seeds it is reasonable to think one of those two could join them. Expecting anything more than that is possible, St. Peters just beat Kentucky, but less is not underperformance either.

Memorize those posters, and if they've suddenly changed their tune, then present that question to those said posters.

It's slightly vague but I believe Paultz once stated he felt the Big East would struggle in the dance. I know I've said it (heck, I say it nearly every season). IMO, it was rather clear in my eyes the conference would struggle once the dance tipped off.

Providence may have lucked out on their draw today, but you never know. I felt they were overrated all season. Marquette and Seton Hall.... Meh, blah. Creighton is too streaky. Villanova, of course, has the pedigree and whatnot, but I'm not much of a fan of their style this season. I think one team will make it to next weekend. Who it'll be? Not sure, but that's my prediction.

Providence getting Rodney Dangerfieid no respect giving only 2 1/2. Might have to visit my butcher for lunch and a wager

I figured we would get a Nova and U Conn to the Sweet 16.  Now I gotta hope it's Nova and Providence. But two Big East teams was always the goal for the league as far as I was concerned.

IMHO the Big 10 raw numbers obscure a lot of underwhelming performances and the ACC has gotten kind of lucky.  But winning is better than losing, no question

RJ Davis, Stepinac kid, lighting it up for UNC v Baylor today. Carolina up 13 at the half

Funny how an agenda works.  A few weeks ago you argued that North Carolina should fire Hubert Davis after losing badly to Wake Forest.  Then Wake fails to make the NCAA's and UNC does.

Then UNC beats a BE team (Marquette) by about a million points and leads a number 1 seed and defending National Champion (Baylor) by double digits at halftime but evidently they have been a product of a lucky draw.

BTW-Duke has a second round game against Michigan St and Tom Izzo.

Sounds lucky to me, I mean who else would you want to face in the second round 2/7 matchup but one of the best coaches of his generation?

Have to give the Peacocks the benefit of the doubt here. If you're capable enough to beat Kentucky, surely Iona wouldn't have them shaking in their boots

Rooting for UNC and their iron man five.
Reminds me of the Jackson/Berry team where Lou would say, if you can't win with 5 you can't win with 50. Or something along those lines.
