NCAA Breakdown & Matchups
I guess I have gone over to the dark side since I have lived in NC for 7 years, but I don't dislike either UNC or Duke. Both great schools that provide great educations and I will never forget what coach Dean Smith did to promote the introduction of black players to big time programs in the south. Plus I have Duke to win it all in my better looking March Madness bracket. Yes, they get special treatment from NCAA, UNC more than Duke, but they are not alone by any means. Pools aside, I much prefer Roy Williams to Boeheim.
In 1770 the Irish statesman and philosopher Edmund Burke wrote about the need for good men to associate to oppose the cabals of bad men. When bad men combine, the good must associate; else they will fall, one by one, an unpitied sacrifice in a contemptible struggle. Or as Kennedy put it:

The Only Thing Necessary for the Triumph of Evil is that Good Men Do Nothing

Or as Jesus put it:

But because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold, not hot, I will begin to vomit thee out of my mouth.

Love it, but technically challenged and can't figure out how to copy the Darth Vader picture into this post! Mostly guilty as charged, except I am more a member of the evil Blue Devil than Tar Heel Empire. Root for Duke as my favorite team other than SJU, Davidson & probably Nova (last one would be close).

Yeah, I hear UNC has great AA studies department.

Yes, guilty as charged. I saw that smoke breathing devil as an innocent young point guard for Bobby Knight's West Point team in Alumni Hall. We used to beat his team then, hopefully we have returned to those days beginning this year.

Nevada comes from 22 down with 10:30 left to stun Cincy.

The big winner here is Kentucky. They just beat 13th seeded Buffalo in the round of 32. Next up, is the winner of UMBC-Kansas St. If they win that, they will play the regional final against either Loyola Chicago, or Nevada.

In other words, they can get to the Final Four as a 5 seed, without ever having to take off the home uniforms. That has to be some kind of record.

Thanks for the "courteous" comment on what was a harmless fan exchange. The idea that Roy Williams & Coach K are somehow a cabal of bad men is so misguided as to be sad. In any event, I choose not to subject myself to this kind of self-important, mean nonsense. Signing off.
Pretty incredible how dumb they played. I'm happy Syracuse won, State deserved to lose.
Can’t go that far since I hate the ‘Cuse, but I Give Boeheim great credit for playing very smart.
Well, no one's ever said the whining S.O.B. isn't a damn good coach.

Get the feeling Calipari's feeling pretty good right now?

And now Auburn and Bruce Pearl getting smoked. God every team I'm rooting against other than Cuse and Duke is going down. And one of those 2 is going down next week

This is about as good as I could have hoped so far

What a Tourney !!!!

Just turned the Clemson game on. Is Auburn playing walk-ons!??! Schadenfreude is a powerful emotion!

So Izzo is a Hall of Fame coach. Well he doesn't know his ass from his elbow in coaching against a zone. Mich. St. guards passed the ball back and forth outside instead of working the ball down low. And even when they did get the ball to the high post Carter ,three feet from the basket plus being wide open, decides to pass thirty feet out to a guard. The Cuse couldn't afford to foul underneath but didn't have to worry. State didn't take advantage of Syracuse's walk on.either, in fact instead of double teaming the two scorers for Cuse they actually were guarding the walk on. Brilliant coaching! Why wasn't Bridges playing down low? Oh I forgot Izzo had them all throwing three pointers all game. Hall of Fame? Not today..

Nevada just made the sweet sixteen with a starting five of transfers and only using six players. Just shows there is no or wrong one to get it done.

The way this tournament is going, I wouldn't be shocked at all to see them win the whole thing. Every year I hope for a champ that isn't one of the usual suspects, but this might actually be the year. Just got to get Duke out of there. I'll be so pissed if they swoop in there again.

Unfortunately they won't lose to Syracuse.

With Nevada the key was team chemistry. That chemistry improved with the dismissal of Darien Williams.
