NCAA Breakdown & Matchups
Yeah, let’s root against Xavier because of one stupid dunk (Mack specifically told his players to stop scoring, he was visibly bothered by that slam). This is bad look for the Big East. The conference needed a good showing, having two 1 seeds. One Big East team and FOUR ACC teams to the sweet 16. Like it or not we need to root for the good of this relatively young conference when the tournament rolls around. Success there each season will legitimize the new BE. Old school powers Georgetown and St. John’s have yet to contribute anything meaningful on the new big stage.
Agree Alex. I got over Xavier's blow out over us. Am a true Big East fan and suffered yesterday watching both Butler and Xavier lose. Bluitt blew it, especially losing control of the ball twice in the last minutes of the game. And while up two against State Goodin somehow loses his dribble at half court with no pressure, resulting in a tied game. Talk about chocking. Don't believe Xavier loses if Macura's two blocked shots, not fouls, weren't called. Got to give credit to Florida State's defense stopping Bluitt. .
Aw, my heart bleeds for Macura, NOT
The kid played his heart out. I'll take him anytime. Was Xavier's best player in the tourney.

We are fine with Nova. Rooted against them and was happy to see them lose.
BTW always rooted against UCONN, Cuse and Gtown in the tourney as well.
Karma -- and a total collapse -- aside, it would've been nice to have to have two BE teams in the Final Four.
It would have been nice to have 2 teams in the sweet 16 like most of the other majors. Hey at least they did better than the Pac12.

Poor Big East showing is forgotten if Villanova makes Final Four or more.

But what we absolutely cannot afford is a blowout loss to West Virginia, and that's always a possibility against a Huggy team if the defense is humming and Villanova's outside shots are aren't falling. I think Nova will be in a tough game but pull away late to win by seven or so, though.

Nevada really amped up their defense and now it's tied 59-59 with about 3 minutes to go. Loyola looks rattled for first time in tourney.

Nevada hits a 3 with 1.4 left. Loyala to survive. Great game. Hate to see either team lose.

Chicago Days, congrats! Rooting for Ramblers big time!

Thanks red! Great story! And since my wife taught at Loyola for 30 years, it’s a very good thing the Ramblers are ‘ramblin’!

Have a sentimental attachment going back to that '63 championship team: two of the players -- Jerry Harkness (DeWitt Clinton HS) and Ronnie Miller (Columbus HS) -- were from the Bronx, my home turf.

I hear you. I was just telling my buddy this morning that Loyola's championship game against Cincy is my first memory of being aware of college basketball.

I forgot that!
Now, the analyst in me wants to winnow through their roster to find out how many 2*/3*s are on the team. And a 4*??!??
I recall when Loyola beat Florida away earlier in the season—when FL was highly ranked—I wondered if they were for real.
Turns out they won their conference easily and—so far—are dancing big.
Fun to see.
Praying that next year, it’s our turn to dance big.

First title game I really remember: the Ron Bonham-led Bearcats, Tom Thacker (only man to win NCAA, ABA & NBA titles), Tony Yates, and big-man George Wilson. (Was it really 55 years ago?!!!)
You think Earlington can become Jordan Caroline?? 6’7 235
No

Really liked how the final minutes played out-no video replay delays and not many TOs used so the game flowed nicely and makes it more exciting.

Can he become Caroline Jordan?
