Mullin
Wow.....just read in the locked thread that staff changes are unlikely. That officially does it for me. I am sad that Mullin has chosen this path and I wonder if he realizes what he is doing.

I decided after the Owens' transfer that my support would hinge on acquiring a big and/or a staff adjustment. With neither of these materializing, and with the level of effort reaching new levels of embarrassment, I now cast a vote of no confidence.

I'll always love #20, but I hope we don't waste too many more season with this absurd approach.
Reopening a two week old thread just to bitch is just spamming the board. If you want to keep posting here, you need to stop the BS.

Consider this a formal warning.
Thank you Ohio Fan!
Easy to bitch and moan...difficult to stick with the program as it evolves even if only incrementally. No one likes losing and missing out on recruits. But “ put up or shot up”...really?
Wow i wonder how that woukd work raising kids, developing a romantic relationship, or creating a career.
Give me a viablle alternative to the current staff, imperfect as it is.
Thanks OF.

That's right "put up, or shut up." Chris thinks he can win this way. He does want a big, it will slow the offense down.
He won't any changes to the staff.? So Mitch stay as an assistant, and does nothing. Only one recuiter to do everything. Does chris recruit??? No experience AC to help Chris?
I really dont understand it.

Chris wants to do it his way, ok. If the team fails next year while doing it his way.
There will be more people pissed. Still though, no changes next april.
He's not gonna let his way fail.
And last thing, htf do you hire someone that won't report to the AD.
Everyone has a freaking boss, he's human just like everyone else.

So yep, he wants to do it his way? OK cool. Let him.
But in year 4 you gotta make the ncaa, otherwise where the difference between him and norm?
Also, no "look what he inherited in year one." In year 4 that's a mute point.

"Give me a viablle alternative to the current staff, imperfect as it is."
The other 9 staffs in the B.E. that's seen at recruiting events. Not just one recruiter doing it alone while everyone else does whatever they wants.
Wish this was the 19yr old Chris, with the fire in his belly, who practices relentlessly in the gym.
That's the Chris I think we were expecting. It's a real shame it's not, I gotta believe that Chris would be having SJU kicking ass right about now.
But oh well, it is what it is.

Let’s see how staff does with an offensively talented squad this year, with Ponds back of course. Despite lacking size this should be a BE contending team. If not, I am sure Mullin and staff will be as disappointed as fans.

We have to stop the losing cycle in order to recruit better players and this seems to be the window of opportunity to do that. The following season may be more difficult in that regard, as a result of losing talented players like Ponds, Clark & possibly Simon, who would be a grad transfer candidate.

Apologies for my "irrelevant" posts about Mullin on a St. John's basketball forum (Mullin is the coach) on a topic about...Mullin.

since the yanks were off yesterday, i have time to turn my attention to SJU basketball.
I will put my gout sensitive toe into the mullin muddle.
full disclosure, many years ago on this board i had my coach wish list as #20, #13, tim cleuss.
its 11/24/2017 & i am sitting in the stands in orlando waiting for the SJU game.
SJU is 5 & 0. lovett in game 5 shoots 7 for 14, 18 points, 5 rebounds.
no one in the stands is shouting - why did you recruit lovett, he went to 4 high schools.
were there pitchforks in front of mullin's multi million dollar homes?

You are like Jimmy Two Times from Goodfellas times 100.
Mike Two Hundred Times does not like Chris Mullin in case anyone was wondering.
Do you do this in other aspects of life?
Like if you order a steak do u say:
" I want a rare rib eye"
" I want a rare rib eye"
" I want a rare rib eye"
" I want a rare rib eye"
" I want a rare rib eye"
" I want a rare rib eye"

When it comes to surprise about Mullin not being all over the recruiting trail I believe there is a misunderstanding of his type of gym rat. Many college coaches are "in the stands" gym rats who rather be there than anywhere else. Mullin is an "on the floor" gym rat, even at his advanced age he wants to be down on the floor with a ball in his hand or nearby.

I'm not condoning anything, just explaining that it shouldn't be a mystery.

Since you have a picture of Shooter Flatch does that mean we are bringing back Gene Keady?

Thanks for the definition of spam as a noun. Agreed, it does not apply. Now look down a few inches (as I suspect you did, and ignored.)

"Spam - Verb

Send the same message indiscriminately (to a large group of users) on the internet"

If your posts walk and talk like ducks they are ducks.

I think many are conflating "spam" and having a differing opinion related to a topic. I appreciate when the mods address actual issues, but overreaching just looking to flex internet muscle is a bit silly IMO. I want Mullin to make the tournament next year in the worst way and set us up to bring in Kofi and a few other impact recruits for 2019. Maybe we can also bring another coach on board to help recruiting after next season. If Matt comes to him and says he can't do it by himself, maybe he feels more pressured to add someone.

I understand you are just pointing something out but there is one problem if indeed this is the case. Players are only allowed to be on the court with coaches for a very limited time especially in the off season. This leaves plenty of time to recruit especially for a 2 million dollar salary unless you enjoy working part time.

Are we really threatening people now who post unpopular opinions, even if they do so repeatedly? This program has been dysfunctional for nearly two decades. What exactly should be people be posting about on this message board? If you don't want to read about it, just skip over the topic.

Many are lauding this year's roster as the most talented under Mullin. That may be true. However, I would make the case that we essentially have three very good players and a host of question marks. The remaining eight active players offer no guarantees.

Dixon -1 yr experience in a mid major conference.
Keita -1 yr experience with limited minutes and production
Trimble -1 yr experience. Solid play, conditioning concerns
LJF -1 yr in Junior College
Gregg Williams -Freshman
Josh Roberts -Freshman
M. Ellington -Freshman
Diakite -Freshman/Injury

I think a few of these players may be ready to contribute to a Big East team. But, it's a fact that we really don't know for sure.

I don't think people care about unpopular opinions. I think people just hate reading same thing over and over and over again. And honestly if you are worried about threats of violence, Jack Torrence kept writing the same thing over and over again at the Overlook Hotel and he finally snapped killed Scatman Crothers with an axe and tried to kill his son and Shelly Duvall. Frankly I am very worried for Mike Zaun's and a few other posters families. I think Scatman Crothers is already dead or I would be worried about him too.

That scene was totally unbelievable. In reality, Scatman would have pulled out his copy of “The Hong Kong Book of Kung Fu” and laid the smack down on Smilin’ Jack.

I don't really take threats of violence seriously, i was really talking about threats of censure. And I would think there would be more sympathy to repeat posters - this Program is clearly the Overlook Hotel in your analogy - if you stay long enough, you are pretty much assured of going crazy. Love that movie by the way.

Spamming the board doesn't bother me personally. I can skim and skip as well as anyone else. Spamming the board and then claiming you don't with an incomplete description (by a strange coincidence the posters shortest missive by 5,000 words) of the word seems worth calling out.

Johnny Fan posted that SJU is entering the season with three very good players and eight unproven players comprised of freshmen, a JUCO and transfers from lower league or Keita who played very little at SC. While the statement is true I think SJU is sitting in a pretty good position rather than looking at it negatively.
With the lure of playing for money somewhere, grad transfers getting immediate eligibility and so many players looking to transfer for more minutes SJU's roster is pretty appealing to me.

Hey JohnnyFan, i hear you and agree on Keita, but wasn't Dixon Freshman of the year in the MAAC and hasn't the 'word' on him in practice been very good: 'steady player, good shooter'?
Also agree, we don't know what to fully expect from LJF following 1 year in JUCO--but what a year: 1st team JUCO AA as a frosh and deadly shooting and very good assist stats.
Just sayin'.
