Mullin Update

Honestly, there was not much to tonight's event. Mullin just came out for a 10-15 minute Q & A with Rothstein, and that was it for him. The assistants were around for the whole thing, though. They did announce both Dejan Matic and Greg St. Jean as staff members, so they are officially on board (both were there).

Pretty good turnout. The reception area was on the small side though, so it probably was not truly as crowded as it appeared.

On the way out, NYY Steak gave everybody a $20 gift card, which won't pay for any meals there, but could make for a nice, cheap lunch one day (it won't go very far at dinner).

Thanks. That was on his way out. I saw how he got in, and positioned myself accordingly. One of the advantages of going to the event alone. ;)

After assembling a very good staff, and hitting the phones and pavement immediately to recruit hard, promote the program all over the city, get huge attention from all local media outlets, and reel in some considerable talent all in a few months, does anyone around here have serious doubts that Chris will also be a great bench coach too. Already he is becoming the kind of SJU ambassador we haven't seen since the Italian leprechaun charmed the city some 25 years ago.

Well who did Chris learn from? The Italian leprechaun himself.

What a story book ending. Chris rocked MSG 30years ago, and all of NYC loved SJU.
When Louie left SJU was never the same. The last 15yrs we haven't even won a ncaa game.

Now the All-American SJU legend is back to restore it's glorified past. Bringing in 2 great assistants in Slice and Matt to recruit.

It might take a few years (yeah waiting sucks, but it is what it is with 9 new players.), but there's no doubt in my mind that SJU's will be great again just like in 85.
Hell maybe even top 85 and win the FREAKING NCAA, now that's my dream, now can they make it a reality.
But even if they don't, then what Villanova has been doing the last 10 years is good.
Chris might not say it but everyone knows what he expects, he wants it all.

It's also safe to say that the players on the team are battling it out for 3rd place in any shooting contests now...
