Mullin Update

Felix' comment is interesting, but not surprising.

@GregLogan1: #ChrisMullin didn't plan to clean house at #sjubb, but that's what happened when he put his rules in place:http://t.co/Etnw4MwDXE.

A meaningful opinion IMO;

@DalyDoseOfHoops: Bob McKillop on Chris Mullin: "I think, already, he is the medicine that that program needs." #sjubb

Thank you Paultzman. A great quote from an excellent coach , basketball mind and even better person. Having lived and coached in LI he knows the school , the program and what it will take. Here is a successful coach who was passed over for the job but yet has only the kindest things to say. A true gentleman if there ever was one. Time will tell but likeCoach McKillop I truly believe Chris and the staff he has assembled are the correct medicine.

Bob McKillop on St. John's: "The key feature of that program is a coach who considers that job his dream job." #sjubb

Bob McKillop: "It's like St. John's has put an imprimatur on their program by hiring Chris." #sjubb

“I was like, I’m 52? Man, this is open to me?” he recalled. “At this point in my life to do something new? Usually at that point you’re trying to get to the end. But this was a whole new adventure. So for me that alone was exciting. I get to do this new thing at this point in my life where a lot of people are still trying to find something that motivates them and is exciting. So to me that was part of it and the other part is I went to school here and that I can have an influence on these young guys maybe more so than on the NBA level.”

Nice piece. The writer grew up with Mullin and played CYO with him.

Matt's comment is salient IMO;

@GregLogan1: #ChrisMullin skeptics might have field day if 1st year is rough, but watch for #SJUBB to start adding pieces:

Well that team was 13-3 in non conference play. I think we would all do backflips for that

Chris Mullin is gonna have a tough go this season at St. John’s, but still may be easier than coaching Rondo-Cousins duo in Sacramento.

@CNG_Staszewski: Mullin said he wants to get better each game as a coach like he asks of his players. Felt he improved in second preseason game. #sjubb

I would expect nothing less from CM. He will do what is necessary, and more.

Get used to such pot shots this year, but we'll be fine in coming seasons. It sucks to have such a losing hand this year, but enjoy the development of the newbies;

@YahooForde: Psst, college basketball starts Today. My list of the 25 most intriguing people in the sport:

The above article is a pretty accurate synopsis. Re: the previous Yahoo article , they say the hiring of Mullin has the potential to be a train wreck. This year we will take our lumps. Next year we have Lovett ,Yawke,Ponds and possibly Bashir to add to a good core. I think Sima is going to be a star and the future looks bright. Do they think coach K could take our youngsters to aBE championship? I think Mullin did an excellent job recruiting, starting so late and essentially building a new team. These things take time.
