Mullin Stepping Down

This was a move that had to be made. But it won't taint Chris' legacy as the best player in St John's history. Kudos to Cragg for the part that he played in bringing this to fruition so quickly. I would suspect that the next coach will have a Duke connection. Just bring us someone who is a proven winner, knows the game, is willing to be flexible for the good of the program and, above all else, has a strong work ethic and will do whatever it takes to bring a consistent winner to St John's.

I feel badly that the coaching gig don't work out as we would have liked for Chris but I am very excited about the future of our program.

In Cragg we trust!!!

Lol at all this Pitno talk like Bobby Hurley isn’t the coach already. When Cragg said “Chris Mullin is our coach and we’re not looking for another one”, Mike Cragg was right on both counts.

-Mullin was the coach at the time ( That was true)
-Were not looking for another meant I already found his replacement ( Bobby Hurley), hence I’m not looking for another candidate.

Cragg is a funny one.

Paultz you are the 1 seed and Bradley is the 16 that may just slay the beast! Kidding aside, is there any real chance of Pitino or is this just all BS?

The best coach hands down we could get on this staff is Bobby hurley....senior. Any chance he will be involved in an official capacity ?

The overwhelming sentiment is relief at the moment. Almost like it was hard to breathe when thinking about the state of this program and how poor things have been run and we can all finally exhale.

Here’s this for a thought, we’ve hired 3 coaches since 2004 and none of them were active head coaches the prior year. All ended up being hated by the majority of us mid-way through their tenure.

Would like to think Mullin’s legacy remains in tact and we are doing things the right way for a change. Health is #1 and everything else is secondary in this world. Sincerely hope after a tough year that CM is with his family and finds his next chapter to be fruitful. Time for Hurley to get to work.

From your statement.
To Naclerio's
To the good ole tea leaves the past few weeks. I think this has been signed sealed and delivered and waiting to be unwrapped
If it turns out to be Hurley I will disappear for 4 years and come back again in time for another coach! We need a program not a coach! Pitino brings us a final 4 program!! For decades to come
Decades to come? Are we talking about the same Rick Pitino?
Yes sir! He would groom his heir! Turn over to them in 5 years a winning tradition! Do you think Mullin, Lavin, Norm, or Hurley concern Jay Wright? Nope but Pitino would have his attention immediately!!
Look at your buddy's first 6 years as a HC. He wasn't a FF machine. That FF came in his 7th year. Next year is Bobby's 7th year coaching. Relax bro ;)
So what you are basically saying is we should take another gamble rather than go with the sure thing! Gotcha.. we did that with Norm, Lavin, Mullin! We did the maybe coaching route! Time for the homerun! Nobody here can possibly compare Hurley to Pitino! One is a HOF coach, the other still learning from his brother, according to him. Every coach recruiting against Hurley will be sure to play that tourney interview Bobby gave about learning from Danny still

He was playing Chess
Others were playing Checkers
Updated list of potential candidates in no particular order:

Hurley
Cluess
Dawkins
Amaker
Schemer
Nate James
Pitino
Rhoades
Matta
Donovan
Brey
Chapel
Synder
Chapel? Or, Capel? Quinn Snyder? If so, then I'm gonna say "no" to Capel and hell no to Snyder.

Pitino, Donovan, Matta, Brey, Hurley, and then Mike Rhoades, in that order for me. The other coaches go to the rear or do not show up for the interview at all.

I'm getting older.... It's time to be a serious player not only in our own conference, but nationally as well. Let's not overthink this and F it up.

Is Hurley a Mets fan or Yankees fan?

Also, what is Bob Hurley doing these days? Is he still coaching after St. Anthony’s folded?

You and your big money pals could have figured this out 2 weeks ago my man! This dragged because of money. Were you only giving if it was Pitino or was it to get out of the situation we were in?

Running after school basketball clinics for youngsters.

Very excited for the news. I’ve already earmarked the money to renew my season tickets and make my yearly donation as scheduled lol. I doubted Cragg for a second there but glad I was wrong. Exciting times ahead.

Doing clinics in NJ and enjoying traveling to see his sons coach. Perhaps at less expense. :)

I was renewing my season tickets regardless. Best value in sports in NY.

I'd take Bobby Senior as a Volunteer Assistant Coach.
