Mullin Stepping Down

Why does anyone believe Mike Brey would leave Notre Dame and his reported $2,420,838 annual salary at this stage of his 60 year old life ?
I wonder how much $$$ it cost SJU for the buyout?
If Hurley leaves for another job:

If Hurley breaks the contract to take a college or pro coaching position, the university may require Hurley to pay the school:

$3 million if Hurley terminates the contract in the first year of the five-year deal.

$2.5 million if Hurley terminates the contract the second year.

$2 million if Hurley terminates the contract the third year.

$500,000 if Hurley terminates the contract the fourth year.

I hear Hurley is bringing Grant Hill(aka Mitch) and is really excited with the facilities...at Belmont. Practices end at 12:30 to make 1:00 post time.

Yes, this is the best denouement that could’ve happened, but it is too bad that Chris’s tenure as HC spiraled out of control for reasons we suspect and God knows what else.
I wish the guy well and hope that he’ll stay a Redmen in his heart even if his pride has taken hits.
He’ll always represent the pinnacle of St. John’s basketball from its beginning, and throughout it history to its recent past.

Sad but predictable ending to a very risky experiment plotted by amateurs.
Just as Mully started with no commitments and poor talent in year one so will the next coach. The top recruits have decided that the drama is too much. There will be transfers. Unfortunately this staff will leave us with as little as the last staff UNLESS they hire a stud coach that players will want to play for.

"KARMA" Came to Union Tpke. You don't tell a good friend..."I'll only take the job if you come with me." & Then turn around a year+ later & kick the guy to the curb.

Lets get a stud coach in here quickly to minimize the defections. Then hopefully the player additions will exceed the player subtractions.

There is a reason why departures have been so quiet. Give it time. Let it play out before making rash decision.

Agree which is why it is curious Tabor a 2020 recruit decommitted as what was the urgency?

If we get Hurley with Hsu and Borman, we may just make regular NCAA's again and maybe even be top 25 level every so often. Would be so refreshing. Hope we can start getting HS studs again.

I like Brey. V good coach.

I am so bad at multi-tasking, I could barely keep track of the game, because I was too busy with the Mullin story.

Thanks a lot Cragg.

They have been quiet because Mullin and company are in radio silence. Players don't know where they stand. The previous 3 seasons Mullin and Mitch would book to the west coast by April 8th. Mullin needs fo be in NYC to finalize his exit.

ASU has two key players eligible for grad transfer: Zylan Cheatham and Rob Edwards. Both have been projected as second round draft picks next season over the last few months.

They also have a 4* PG signed out of high school (whose father played at ASU according to Jack Williams) and a dynamic scoring PG from JUCO.

The last time Hurley switched jobs he brought a PG with him.

If Hurley comes I hope he at least brings one impact kid! Either a current player or a recruit that decommits and follows him.
