Did he consider us? Before my time.

I recall we was in his top 5, along with Duke, UNC, Seton Hall and Villanova, if I'm not mistaken. I was in the 10th grade when he committed to Duke.

I said Mullin was gone! Pitino is the target! Hurley the distraction! Tenn and STJ will fight for Pitino. The leak now about Mullin has everything to do with Barnes/UCLA talk
If Pitino comes you get all the credit in the world. If Hurley comes credit is going to go to someone here who doesn't post rumors who told me and another person this might happen during the big east tourney
K good to know, but to me, TB gets the ‘public’ credit that ‘something’ was afoot. And he’s been vilified on the Board fo mentioning it—albeit Pitino 99% of the time—but he clued me in at least that big donors were disgruntled and moving for things to happen, and also mentioned...once!...that Hurley was in the mix.
I give TB huge kudos for being the first to mention ‘possibilities’ publicly.
I do hope it’s Hurley...Bobby.
Lol.
Thanks Tom.
I never said Hurley wasnt in the mix, just our group is all in for Pitino! Ultimately Cragg will make his hire! I just was passing on what I know. Last time I knew Lavin was gone, but was om the outside trying to get names considered. Hopefully a group is heard more than the individual

Oh god, now every compliment on Hurley will be seen as a "diss" on Mullin. Half joking. As I have said, I don't expect Final Four's or even Sweet 16's. I don't expect a juggernaut. I just expect us to put ourselves in the best position possible with our resources to compete for real. We are reportedly about to do that with Hurley and 2 AC's. It's a lot easier to go through a few rebuild years when you know everyone's hard at work and recruiting as best as they can. One thing you won't notice anymore are the words "effort", "transfer U", or "recruiting" in a negative light. The effort will be there. I'll be rooting for the best.

Hurley
Cluess
Dawkins
Amaker
Scheyer
James
Pitino
Hell no to Cluess, Amaker and Scheyer. Just a "no" to Dawkins. Who is James? Does LeBron wanna coach us next season? :)
Agreed I think he means Nate James, K assistant and former Duke player.

Bobby would be an upgrade but not sure how much long term if he has the skills to match Jay. He'll work though.

Pitino would win with 5 midgets and a cheerleader.
The man can flat-out coach for sure. I still prefer Hurley for his youth, work ethic, and Jersey roots, but let’s remember about the Catholic Church and something called ‘redemption’.
Doubt we can outbid Tennessee, so likely a moot ‘choice’.

I actually think you will start hating on Hurley after his first technical foul. If not then def by his first loss.

SJU is a catholic god loving school. Supposed to give people who are sincerely sorry a second chance.
All eyes would be on him, so he'd be an idiot to cheat again.
Maybe he'd return the favor with a NC.

Would be like going from:

to

We could turn Rick.

It came down to Duke and SJU. Remember, when Carnesecca was recruiting Hurley, he already had Sealy and Werdann, who were a year ahead of Hurley.

They could have been quite a trio for three years.

It was coach K.'s revenge for coming in second to SJU for Mullin.

Never going to happen but if somehow got Pitino I would not only renounce Mullin, Berry, Jackson and David Russell but will burn my throwback Mullin jersey in support of the hire.

Well this is certainly interesting to wake up to.

I’ll be happy with a hardworking Hurley. Let’s hope he comes and opens that Canadian pipeline.

And won't come from me but the faces and the technicals will annoy people on here really quickly if not successful right away. Take that prediction top the bank.

I dont care if I am a villian on here! I would take the villian label if we win! I just want SJU to be a great basketball University again! I want our fans to be excited! Not looking for credit for anything! Just please hire a winner! Lets get excited!!!

How can one get involved with the Pitino backers? Asking for a friend

Yeah, that's something we aren't used to. When you win this stuff becomes quite a bit more tolerable.

Yeah not walking right in and winning anything so lets see how long that honeymoon lasts.

More than happy to let Hurley get time to rebuild. IMO we will probably see lots of progress on the way...one thing is for sure...we will start getting impact HS recruits again consistently. Going back to Nike...may have 3 Duke guys between Cragg, Borman, and Hurley. Much harder to fall short constantly with competent guys who work their tails off. We may not succeed with Hurley, but at this point it's our best option. Young, hungry, competent, recruits, legacy of his father, huge name, etc.
