That would be the death knell of the program for sure.

Doubt they forced out CM to settle for Cluess.
I'd hope not. That wouldn't sit well with me at all.

To the good ole tea leaves the past few weeks. I think this has been signed sealed and delivered and waiting to be unwrapped
If it turns out to be Hurley I will disappear for 4 years and come back again in time for another coach! We need a program not a coach! Pitino brings us a final 4 program!! For decades to come

Nebraska phone lines down?

Updated list of potential candidates in no particular order:

Hurley
Cluess
Dawkins
Amaker
Schemer
Nate James
Pitino
Rhoades
Matta
Donovan
Brey
Chapel
Synder

1) Pitino 2) Hurley

I'd be shocked if we get Pitino but Hurley would be a great prize as well! Still can't bring myself to think Pitino would be here...just too good to be true.

Hell no to Cluess, Amaker and Scheyer. Just a "no" to Dawkins. Who is James? Does LeBron wanna coach us next season? :)
Agreed I think he means Nate James, K assistant and former Duke player.

Bobby would be an upgrade but not sure how much long term if he has the skills to match Jay. He'll work though.

Pitino would win with 5 midgets and a cheerleader.
Oh! Hell no to Nate James, too!

Pitino would take this team we have right now, and add a couple of decent-to-solid players to the mix, and we'd find ourselves dancing next season.
I honestly believe Pitino would be able to get Precious to SJU.

Imagine how hard it will be to get tickets to SJU games with Pitino here!!! Once in a lifetime do the planets align like this!! We are fighting for it!!

Look I had no problem with you posting what you did. I also think Pitino's extra-marital issues would never stop SJU from hiring him. But what's still being talked about that happened at Lville is a no. Sorry. Years back there was a chance Pitino could have been here. The connection to certain donors was and is still strong. But you CANNOT invite in a guy who let rampant cheating go on and got caught. Sorry. It's a not starter.

Don't disappear. You're a fun poster. And I should have included you because you were waving the flag of change as well. My oversight there.

(for 20minutes) :)
Nah there will be holdouts.
Pitino is obviously the best option available and a perfect fit but St. Johns doesnt get guys like him; it would be amazing if they do though almost too good to be true. He would win 20 games within his first 2 years probably in year 1 if he has LJ and Simon. Lets hope Cragg does it again.

The donors that I have aligned with arent just down here, they are all over, and the leader I am confident is one of the largest donor! I dont have his money

Pitino has had some serious lapses in judgement but he is one of the 5 best coaches in the last 30 years hands down.

Again I could give you 5 midgets and the girl next door and he could go 22-9 and 11-7...He's that good...
Best SJU player ever. The way he wanted to run the program like a GM and manage who did the recruiting and who did the X's and O's just doesn't work in college. You need to dedicate 50 weeks a year to this job. I wish him all the best. Spend time with the family. You'll still be remembered as the best ever. The last 4 years doesn't change that fact. Good luck and God bless you and your family Chris.
Beautiful and extremely gracious post Rawdog.

This is going to ruffle the feathers of some of the older alums, but it’s time for the next generation of alums to take the reigns so it seems.
I think most if not all agree it was time to move on. Chris Mullin will still remain as perhaps the programs alltime greatest player.
Good luck to him.
Perhaps?

Smart man

This is the right thing to do for EVERYONE involved. Next year would have been ugly if we kept down that path. This ensures no damage to reputation.

How can you be fighting for it when you are posting here every 2 minutes? ;) :)
