Mullin Stepping Down
I'm confused...if Mullin stepped down officially doesn't that mean the buyout was already negotiated? Why are people reporting he's demanding every penny of the $4 million?
It's fluid.

I finally agree with you on something
Hahaha...well played.

Pitino or Hurley would delight me.

Whatever the decision is it has to be made pronto.

We still have some highly-talented ball players on our roster and Tariq Owens’ example of how far a well-chosen transfer
can take you is all too fresh in everyone’s
mind.
Would think the longer this takes to play out the more worried we should be that ASU may be too much to overcome $$$
When you were born did the “patience” installer call in sick? :)

Gotta get moving...weekend recruiting event and LJ, Williams, etc. are waiting idly by to see what we do.

Paultzman seems pretty confident about this one. Next 24-48 hours gonna be interesting for sure. Being a SJU fan isn’t dull in the off-season at least...

Hopefully you know something (assuming so). Would love for this to get done.

Marcus, having been a St John's fan for almost 55 years, it's NEVER dull

Stop panicking over getting it done quickly to prevent players from leaving. Let me say a few things on that:

1)Most of the players that are transferring or leaving were happening regardless of whether Mullin was retained or not. The Trimble news I got over the weekend forgot to post. Nothing to do with Mullin. Simon going pro is not a result of coaching change either.

2)Many of these kids to be blunt are not that good. Trimble can be replaced even with late recruiting or even saving the ship. So can Josh Roberts and Earlington if they choose to bail. One of the reasons people grew tired of the previous staff is how poorly they recruited. This is merely a by product of that.

3)Player movement after a coaching change is natural anyway. Shit happens. I'd exchange a few transfers/de-commits for a new staff in 5 seconds assuming what has transpired here over the last 2 years.

4)Sorry don't buy the notion they were going to be good even under optimum circumstances. Overrating the current talent. Again weighted too much on non-productive transfers or transfers moving up in class.

5)Heron had not had a conversation with Mullin since end of season. Also Mullin refused to hire assistant or do any recruiting after Matt bailed until he got an extension. You have a problem with the roster and how they are reacting, place some blame with him. Also many of us wanted a new direction as soon as the season was over. Many of you didn't. If my side got our way SJU would probably have a coach and be recruiting now..just saying.

Moral of the story get the search right, that is the most important thing,

I’m not a soccer guy but an SJU coaching search is my World Cup

BOBBY HURLEY, Arizona State:
RICK PITINO, Panathinaikos
BILLY DONOVAN, Oklahoma City Thunder: Donovan has the Thunder headed back to the NBA playoffs and his job status appears stable. But could this be the job that lures the Long Island native and former Knicks guard back to college? Donovan, 54 in May, led Providence to the Final Four as a player and won two national titles at Florida.

TIM CLUESS, Iona
KEVIN BOYLE, Montverde Academy: Is this finally the college opening that Boyle lands? The former St. Patrick’s coach, 56, basically coaches a college team at Montverde in Florida and he would give St. John’s an immediate grassroots recruiting boost.

JOHNNY DAWKINS, Central Florida: The former Duke star and NBA player, 56 in September, has revitalized his coaching career at UCF following a rough stint at Stanford. He may be looking to move back up, and Cragg’s Duke ties could factor in.

BRANDON KNIGHT, Rutgers: Steve Pikiell has already lost one assistant to a head coaching job with Jay Young going to Fairfield. Could St. John’s nab another and hire Knight, a Seton Hall Prep product and Big East legend at Pitt, off the Rutgers bench? Knight turns 38 in December.

BAKER DUNLEAVY, Quinnipiac: Dunleavy, 37 in October, was a Villanova assistant under Jay Wright and played at Lawrenceville Prep. His father is former NBA and college coach Mike Dunleavy Sr., a Brooklyn hoops legend.

MARK JACKSON, ESPN

THAD MATTA: The former Ohio State coach took the Buckeyes to the Final Four twice and also won an NIT title, he had a successful run at Xavier and he played at Butler. Health is a major concern with Matta though - he will only be 52 later this year, but a bad back and other issues led to his dismissal from Ohio State.

But the scorers table will always be number 1 with me but beating Duke was a close 2

Played in a Final Four game for ST John's and coached ST John's in a NCAA tourney game.
One accomplishment that will never be done again, another that happens once every 5 years and combined something that was never done or will be done ever again.

You call out others for being too negative yet you state we will never make the Final 4 again. As Lou C once said "We're going Mo", just not with Mo the next time.
