Mike Repole Piece

Vinny Viola graduated West Point, then got his law degree from NYU. Net worth $1.5 billion. He also owns St. Elias Stable, racing high level horses and co-owns horses with several other high profile racing groups like Repole Racing and Win Star Racing.
Thank you Alumni H
Coincidence - I graduated from the same two institutions - I was an actual student not an athlete although at West Point all students had to participate in sports.
NYU Violets in the Village
(by the Brooklyn group the Tokens - the Lion Sleeps Tonight 😀 in the village the quiet village…)
Good luck to our fellow Redman

2 quick questions to the knowledgeable race enthusiast:

is it reasonable to expect Forte to race to race this August in the Travers Stakes at Saratoga ?

has the Travers lost prestige as the “Summer Derby” over the years ?

thanks.

Otis, the Travers is still the biggest race of the Saratoga meet and usually draws some of the top 3 year olds. Whether Forte winds up running in it will depend on how he does in triple crown races both in terms of success and how he comes out of them physically. All things being equal, certainly wouldn't be surprising to see him run in the Travers.

Travers is still the premier summer race for 3 yo’s. But it’s getting lots of competition from Pennsylvania Derby and The Haskell at Monmouth Park

If he runs well in the Triple Crown and comes out healthy the Travers would be a race Repole would love Forte to win as it is a huge NY based race. He has won the Travers before so it clearly is the Derby that he wants right now.

I wonder if Rick will be attending the Derby in MR's owner's box? (Maybe combo with talking to Ware)

I saw Mike interviewed by Paul Lo Duca on Fox Sports One this morning. He was really emotional and obviously disappointed. It ultimately was the track Vet's call and I am sure that added to his frustration. Forte might run in the Preakness but I guess they are in wait and see at this point.
