I don't think there is anything to throw back in Repole's face. Once his radio explosion was made, the entire recruiting process for a coach changed. Before Repole, they were chasing no-name cheaper coaches. All of a sudden they have a real coach with a real record.[/quote]

His words were heard on Union and Utopia

Williams would be crazy to transfer now. He and Roberts would flourish under Anderson IMHO

In a PERFECT world, Anderson has this roster for 19-20 to start with:

Guards - Williams, Heron, Wright
Forwards - Figueroa, Earlington, Roberts, Carraher
Bigs - Steere, Keita

That's 9 guys. Praying he can re-recruit Figueroa, and that we get no other defections. I think both Trimble and Simon are long gone, and Mack and Manuel will obviously never step foot on campus. Add a point guard somewhere and 1-2 more grad transfers, and we'll have a shot at being mid-pack in Year 1 of the Anderson era. Fingers crossed. Not getting my hopes up, but we'll see.

Consider keeping St Jean He has ties to current players and probably has made local Contacts in his 4 years here

No matter what happens next season, it appears we've hired a steady hand that probably was asked about how long he intends to keep coaching. I'm going to assume this isn't a 6 year deal in his mind, and in the new era of Boeheim and K coaching into their 70s, hopefully he has a lot of success and is in this for 10 years.

Not too worried about next season. Hopefully he can instill an exciting brand of basketball, have moderate success with a 5th-8th place BIG east team, and set the stage for bigger things in years following.

Oh, I agree. I meant the above not as a knock on Repole, but as a way for the admin to save face.

Who knows how this all really went down. But I do know that in that interview, Francesca was pumping Cluess and Repole, while acknowledging that Cluess is a fine coach, said this at the very end:

“We can still get a great coach, whether it’s Tim Cluess tomorrow, or even someone with more experience. We’ve got to pay the money.”

Was Anderson always under consideration and this helped move the needle? I don’t know. I’m just happy with the result.

I wonder if there is any real shot Justin Simon would reconsider he would have some season playing in Anderson’s system it would really Raise his stock.

Can't imagine coach Anderson won't reach out to him and give it a shot. His dad was quoted as saying he might have returned but for the coaching change. This coach will be a great fit for his talents.

Welcome to New York coach, I hope you have many successful years here.
Really looking forward to watching our teams play your style of defense.

Current players love him. Would be good transition element. After a year or two, he can start to make his own mark elsewhere.

I keep reading people say our coach needs local connections. Why? How many kids on our current roster are local? As we've learned, not many kids are looking to stay home anymore.

Chatter seems to be pointing to Borman and Hsu for AC spots. We’ll know soon enough

That sounds like an ideal situation!

It’s amazing to me how quickly everything is turning around. I actually have optimism whereas not even 24 hours ago, I thought we were destined to float into irrelevance.

If we can even just keep LJ on top of who we already have, this is a big win-win for all of us who support this team.

When's the last time we had an AC stay on board after a HC change? I actually don't the answer, but would think it's a pretty rare occurrence.

In any event, GSJ will have his pick of great opportunities, I'm sure.

Mostly because he won't not play them for some weird reason.
