Mike Anderson - Recruiting, Coaching, Etc.

This is crazy. I remember the spring of 2019 when the whole program was in turmoil and a national laughingstock. Now it's 2020 in the midst of a pandemic and people are wondering if it's the coaches fault you can't recruit. He brought in Posh Alexander who would have been a 4⭐ recruit and this year he's brought in the two best players from NYS best team who if they had a regular summer would have probably moved up the rankings. Also look what he did with 2⭐&3⭐ players that Mullin recruited but didn't use. One other thing - isn't it nice to have a complete roster and everyone qualified without any drama.
No offense but these sound like excuses to me. How do you know that they would have move dup in the rankings? Maybe other players would have passed them or improved as well. If Bryan Trimble learned how to dribble he would have been a stud! If Chris Obekpa didn't get caught with weed we would have made the final 4. I agree that he's done well with the 2 and 3 star recruits so far. People on here get on Lavin for being lucky and getting Norms players to the tournament but praise CMA for getting more out of Mullins recruits. Facts are the Facts, not one 4 star recruit has committed to Anderson yet. I love some of our recruits, Posh, PInzon, Champ, and others, but I think if we want to compete at the top of the Big East we need some better talent to mesh with those 3 star guys that CMA develops well. Lets hope that it starts with Cuffe and continues.
Here ya go, Anderson landed a 4-star recruit. Done!

When's he gonna get a 5 star kid????? ;)
Any idea who our last 5 star kids was that wasn't a transfer? When I looked back at Mullin and Lavin they didn't appear to get any.
Mike Zaun; classic disinformation strategy.

Pretty sure ESPN had Sir Dom as a 5 star in their final rankings.

ESPN had Dom as #62 4 star. Harkless & Sampson also 4 stars but ranked in high 30s from what I can find on the web.
From what I can see on the ranking websites, 5 stars are generally top 25 or maybe top 30 guys. Pretty sure only one of those we've gotten out of HS since Jarvis torpedoed the program is Jordan and that was because of the issues that left only us, Temple & UCLA recruiting a 5 star.
Clearly we've gotten our share of 4 stars and no reason we can't continue to do so with a little more winning this year.
Dom was not a 5 star , I remember distinctly. Harkless, Sampson and Dom were all rated about the same, w Dom the highest,.

I just remember Rysheed being a 5* recruit.

I think some folks have lost sight of the fact that recruiting rankings are not direct translations into on-court success. It's kind of like mistaking fantasy football for real football.

Yeah, or porn for actual sex.

ESPN rankings are still there : Sampson 32, Harkless 39, Pointer 62, Harrison 64. I didn't make the numbers up. Maybe Dom was highest on a different site, very possible.

Sir Dom....

Mea culpa in a big way Amaseinyourface and MjDinkins. Not sure what I accessed to show Dom in the 60s but it did show that way, see he was at one time #25 per Dinkins post (although still a 4 star not 5 star). In a way Dom being #25 shows how these rankings are arbitrary as he was clearly not the college player any of Harrison, Harkless or Sampson were (other than his senior year)

Wasn't Elijah Ingram a 5 star player? Recruiting was a whole different world back then. Pre social media.

He got an extra star for proving to be a good shooter.
Just curious as why you felt the need to post this Beast. To me, it is inappropriate and juvenile. The young man made a terrible mistake, paid the price for it, and now appears to be trying to get on with his life.
