No offense but these sound like excuses to me. How do you know that they would have move dup in the rankings? Maybe other players would have passed them or improved as well. If Bryan Trimble learned how to dribble he would have been a stud! If Chris Obekpa didn't get caught with weed we would have made the final 4. I agree that he's done well with the 2 and 3 star recruits so far. People on here get on Lavin for being lucky and getting Norms players to the tournament but praise CMA for getting more out of Mullins recruits. Facts are the Facts, not one 4 star recruit has committed to Anderson yet. I love some of our recruits, Posh, PInzon, Champ, and others, but I think if we want to compete at the top of the Big East we need some better talent to mesh with those 3 star guys that CMA develops well. Lets hope that it starts with Cuffe and continues.[/quote]

Any idea who our last 5 star kids was that wasn't a transfer? When I looked back at Mullin and Lavin they didn't appear to get any.

Omar Cook maybe? Seems to me that the correlation between ranking and number of stars has changed over the years. If memory serves me correctly, 5 stars were for kids ranked 1-25. 4 stars for kids in the 25-75 or 100 range . 3 stars for 100-150 or 200. 2 stars after 200. I know it's changed over the years, and I'm sure it varies from site to site.

I prefer looking at the legitimate offers a SJU recruit has v total reliance on ranking.

ESPN had Dom as #62 4 star. Harkless & Sampson also 4 stars but ranked in high 30s from what I can find on the web.
From what I can see on the ranking websites, 5 stars are generally top 25 or maybe top 30 guys. Pretty sure only one of those we've gotten out of HS since Jarvis torpedoed the program is Jordan and that was because of the issues that left only us, Temple & UCLA recruiting a 5 star.
Clearly we've gotten our share of 4 stars and no reason we can't continue to do so with a little more winning this year.
 
Maybe we should just have a "Stars" thread, and once we've exhausted high school basketball players, we can move on to restaurants(Michelin), hotels, the universe, the cable channel, etc.
