Thank you - I do not know if this is a "good character" kid - which is the only type we should recruit - but I do like the fact that our competition are top Bball schools - how far we've come in a few short years under Coach Lavin's reign!
Appreciation promotes health! There is a lot to appreciate about SJU in this new era.

all the best

I guess Tom spilled the beans on the "mystery center." LOL Quite frankly, I'm torn when it comes to Chandler. He's a talented kid, and probably would pay immediate dividends the time he steps on the court. OTOH, I'm not sure he's worth the trouble.

If he has his head screwed on, then it's certainly worth the risk. The question is.... Will he have his head in the right place?

If he is qualified and.we can get him i say take him, let the staff deal and handle any of his problems by keeping him grounded

A 6'10" kid would be a terrific get for us, espcially one of this caliber.

I would appreiciate it if anyone in the know could summarize his past travails so that we can get a sense of what we are dealing with. I see he has made a number of commitments and moved around a lot, but what was that, mostly academic and qualification issues? Or, were there other issues that should be of concern?

Hopefully, it is "just" academic in nature, and the staff can make sure he stays on track. The exisitng bunch of kids would seem like a good group to rein him in and get him straight, together wiht the staff.

Finders crossed.

He's had checkered past no doubt. He verballed to Lville like in his soph year of HS or something. Then backed out and verballed to Xavier. Backed out of there and verballed to UCF. He has had questionable grades, questionable ppl around him and was also tossed from a game in March of 2011 for fighting.

Sounds like a good candidate for Uconn.

I like his skill but sounds very chancey to me

Oh what's that - criticism rearing its ugly head. I don't ever remember that happening on here before...

I have to say that we took risks last year and some didn't pan out. In the end I have to believe that the coaching staff has a firm grasp and maybe, just maybe, what this young man needs is someone who will make him "toe the line" and force him to mature - perhaps this coaching staff is exactly what he needs to get his head twisted on straight and to move forward in a positive way. I am not trying to be "Susie SUnshine" but I have to think the coaches wouldn't even waste the time to text this kid if they didn't think the potential for good outweights the potential for disaster.

We have a lot of scholis to give . Got to take the chance on him. If he pans out, he is our missing piece. We will have all positions filled w 4 star players and a real center.

Agreed but I think the concern is if he's the only 4/5 in the class and he either doesn't qualify or flakes out al a Lindsay, we don't want to be caught short on post players again this year. So hopefully, Coach is signing up Chandler and at least one other big. And hopefully they all stick, all the way deep into the NCAA's.

Would definately have to get another big as well.

Who are the BIGS in your mind that we're recruiting. Just want to make sure a BIG is the same thing in our minds.

The bigs i am thinking of also are CO,Sanchez and Nolan

Best thing abut Chandler is that he's an extremely crafty offensive player. Staff could do wonders with this kid and he'd be nearly unstoppable in the post on offense. He needs a staff that can get him playing at the next level speed-wise. Hoping we can get this one done...
