Michael Chandler (OREGON VERBAL)

Would take him in a NY minute over Obepka if he qualifies. Sanchez and Sampson are more than able to block shots. Chandler would be a force on the offensive end from the get-go. There was a reason Pitino was after this kid as a HS soph. He is a great talent. Dunlap would make him a beast.

Good post, bill. I'd be more than fine with a combo of Sanchez, Sampson, and Chandler. Give me that trio and we can shut it down (2012 recruiting), as far as I'm concerned.

I'm also curious about Nolan. It should be fun times for us in the weeks ahead.

I'd really love to see that. Gift only here for a year. Could bring Nolan along more slowly first year and he can take over after Gift gone and share with Chandler and likely take over after Chsndler makes the jump.

 I believe Lavin would take the verbal, but no others, holding the last scholi for Chandler.Cant see turning it down W Chandlers academic question marks. Ideally we would get 2 centers and the ark will be complete.

Of course he may be a terrific person and evolve into a (relatively) student-athlete but???
Do we really want to go in this direction solely because of size and talent?

I assume Coach, staff and informed posters know much better than I if he arrives in Queens. And the coach wants him "real bad" ??? Hmmmn. :holdbreath:

  That is why I dont understand using a Scholi on Hooper. Even though Lavins primary target is Chandler, he may not get cleared. That is why I believe he has to take Nolan if he verbals. If Hooper didnt use a scholi ,there would be another two more available for Turner and Chandler.. But who knows, maybe Hooper didnt use a scholi?

If he's eligible it's his.

And Nolan figures in separately, along with Turner, and Wood. And then presumably there's going to be at least 1 left over for Lawrence in 2013. Although, as discussed, an extra scholarship may suddenly open up.

That about sums it up. We could finish off our 2012 class and take care of our 2013 class over the next couple of weekends. The staff could focus on sealing up Lawrence and recruit the '14 and '15 classes, respectively. 
 
Apparently Lavin wasn't lying when he said he'd sign five or six guys way back when. Up until now, I thought he'd go no higher than 11, but I now think he uses all 13 if the targeted big men are eligible, and worries about Lawrence when the time comes.
