I know there are a ton of question marks surrounding Chandler, from his entourage to his ability to become academically elidigible. But the prospect of adding him to a class with Branch and Sampson is exciting. These were the 3 pieces we needed most - a true pg, a real center, and another post player to replace Moe.
Chandler in my mind is a better all around player than Obekpa. Not the shot blocker CO is, but better all around.
If his situation is straightened out this would be a fantastic swing in momentum. And in my mind it would make us a better team even if Moe leaves like most expect him to.
Hopefully coach can beat out Missouri, Kansas and Florida State for this kid. It's been awhile since we had talent and size like he has ... Zendon would be my guess.

Can you just imagine from where we were a week ago. We had 1 guy here ( branch top 50 ) but no one else.

It really is remarkable MJ.
I can't say this would be his "best recruiting class ever"; but this really could be a special class for Lavin.
Now this probably won't happen, but we can dream right??
So imagine 3 top 50 recruits (Chandler, Branch, Sampson). , plus a wing and defender in Balamaou, another post presence in O Sanchez, and that shooter we've wanted in Morris.
Combine that with our returning 5 of Dangelo, Phil, Amir, Dom, and Gift - and I think we're well on our way as a program.
Not there yet ... But I love what Lavin is trying to do. Hopefully these last few pieces fall into place. We all saw last year how just missing Pelle alone could hurt a team. So if Lav can lock up Chandler and or Sanchez soon that may be the next big moment for us.
You know what. just weeks ago people ( throw me in with everyone else ) began to think of it in terms of another 2 years to be completely back.
Even if Moe goes pro if we get the people we are targeting we are back next year and there will be no more rebuilding years. Just reloading years
I'll be the 1st to admit I thought Jakarr was lost but I know for a fact the staff was confident even if no one else was outside of them. A lot of times we don't know what goes on behind the scenes

Where was it announced? Did I miss something?
Even though Chandler signed an LOI with Central Fla.the NCAA cleared him, " WITHOUT PENALTIES."
The NCAA said he was cleared because he had not enrolled yet at Central Florida. Really ! ?????
Does that mean that a signed LOI means nothing until ater the time of enrollment ! I don't think so. I think there was more to this than we know. Possibly it felt that this kid was a real victim and victims, especially impressionable kid victims, don't need more penalties. Furthermore IMO,, if Cent. Florida was not a perpetrator,it was more at fault than Michael was.
In any event , as far as Michael being cleared by the NCAA, the only bar remaining is his current academic status..
It has been reported that he is hitting the books really hard so that part sounds great.
IMO, the NCAA has already cut him some slack so if it is a close call, that partiality could help, especially if he is on the bubble.
When a Chandler, with all of his previous problems, meets a Steve, with all of his empathy and panache, that could just be the right chemistry for his recruitment here and a strong jump start toward a successful career.
I hope that his recruitment does not scare away our other center candidates who might suffer from splinters-phobia. In any event, I think that among all of our center candidates only Chandler can make us special.
The others could be fine additions but Michael will be a star.

Maybe, he already was informed that he qualified. He will make the announcement together with Steve's return and will SIGN AN LOI in a couple of days, or so, when the signing period starts and he and Steve are in town.
It looks to me like things are aligned in that direction.
