Michael Chandler (OREGON VERBAL)

Right to hope we will hear from the NCAA by the end of the week?

By the way I feel like the son in the backseat bugging his parents, "are we there yet"

You are :)

And you can hope all you want but honestly nobody knows. NCAA is unpredictable

Hey Moose, I thought it was a sure thing?!

The only thing that seems sure are that we're the leaders.

Exactly. The sure thing is if Chandler is fully cleared to play ball next year it will be Queens. (I say fully cleared because he could be a partial qualifier and BE and other BCS conferences doesn't accept them- think Remi Barry).

People felt they would hear by now, but the NCAA can rule today, Monday or late July for all we know.  If another option presents/presented itself (Nolan, Pankey, etc there it won't be held up by waiting for Chandler)

my daughter is awaiting SAT results from the may exam if thats the one he took. Ill let you know when they come in if that is a deciding factor for the NCAA clearing house ....actually i just checked , scores are reported in 7 days from today according to the board

If it was as simple as SAT's they offer them every month. If he missed last year he could have taken them 12 times I think since then. I think its more classes.

are there any new developments with Chandler the wiat is killing me he is clearly the missing piece, getting him makes us a real contender in the Big East next year.

Nope. We're just awaiting word from the NCAA.

Dave on JJ says that MC has a lot of work to do academically. After reading his post MC sounds like a longshot to me.

Yes

It could also be the reason why we might bring in Dickerson for a visit.

Are we too late for the Dickerson party at this point? And if we get Obekpa, does it make sense to save the ship for next year's class? I know Dickerson is a real 7 footer, but I heard he is a "project".

I heard they are saving it.

Would they save the scholi if we do not get CO? Or would they use it on Dickerson to get another big?

That's a shame. I think Chandler is more ready than Obekpa to have an impact on the offensive end.

 Ok, so here's a question..

If Dave is right and Chandler doesn't qualify, then let's say we win the battle for Chris O, that still puts us in a position where next spring we'll need a big man, since God's Gift graduates next year.

Jermaine Lawrence appears to be our primary target, but is he a replacement for God's Gift, or someone who we want filling in at center? Not exactly.

Yes, I know we will likely use a small lineup, and you don't always need a true center. But my question is, even if we sign Chris, why aren't we mentioned with any bigs right now for the 2013 class? They're going to start making decisions soon, and we don't want to be sitting here next spring fighting for the leftover big men like Nolan, Chandler, Dickerson etc like we are now.

We're following Lawrence, and pgs like Jordan and Sina, but what "bigs" do will the staff start concentrating on in the 2013 class? Is Jordan Washington a possibility? There are the two pfs from Louisiana Martin and Damian Jones.. Not sure who else the staff might direct their attention to next.

I've only heard they may bring Dickerson in for a visit, but nothing is concrete at the moment. That could be contingent on whether we land Obekpa. I think if Obekpa comes aboard, then we're done with the 2012 class. If he doesn't come aboard, then they might ( might is the keyword) extend it towards Dickerson.

In the end, I have a hunch we'll go with what we currently have on the roster (Obekpa or not).

With the open ship going into July I'm sure new names will pop. Heck Damian Jones was a new name last week.

New names will certainly pop going into July. Most of us know that Lawrence is the main priority in 2013 (at least, at the moment). I also wouldn't have any problem with a frontcourt of Sampson, Sanchez, Lawrence and Obekpa.
