Michael Chandler (OREGON VERBAL)

Ok, so obviously a player can't go HS to NBA, can they go JC to NBA? I can't find any JC players to go to the NBA since the same time NBA stopped accepting HS players. Can someone clarify this for me please. Thanks

Of course they can, in fact our own Ernest Brown was drafted by the Heat straight out of JC. Similar career arc to Michael Chandler

But has there been a JC player drafted after 2005? If so who? I just can't find one since the NBA stopped allowing HS players that same year

One year after you class graduates you can be drafted. But of course very few JC Players are good enough. If you look a this year's early entry list theres some kid from Shoreline CC who has declared. Probably as a joke but the fact that he is on the list show's you can do it.

None has, but the certainly can be. My goodness, doesn't anyone remember the speculation (unfounded) that Nuri was going to go straight to the draft last year?

Apologies, I couldn't find the original thread about Michael. The Lindsey/Dwayne posts on 'how are they doing now' got me thinking how Michael was doing. I know he doesn't fit the same category as he never dressed or even committed to us but maybe they will keep tabs on him? Would be nice to have a Teague (SHU) type back to the basket player who can bully his way in on occassion. Michael's team is currently #4 ranks in njcaa.

Well the minutes aren't accurate because it has him playing 1 minute on December 30th and scoring 22 points.

That is one odd game log.

And we're not missing much it seems.

Idk. Seems like he just wasn't getting playing time early in the year. Last game he scored 15.
This kid was an enormous talent coming out of HS. I don't have to tell you, you know lol

And I would keep tabs on him, f for no other reason than he's a real center... And those are rare, as we've learned.

No offense but do you trust the minutes shown. I just pointed out how he played 1 minute and scored 22 pts :)

Maybe everyone on the roster and the coaches assaulted him after the opening tip, and he made all of his technical FTs immediately before being rushed to the ER.

Unimpressive stats in Junior College:

4.6 average of points per game in 34 games
2.4 average rebounds per game in 34 games

If we were in so good w him, why are we not going after him w our need for another big? To big a risk?

At this point, Chandler might be a reach for St. John's. He only started 7 games, albeit the last 7, for a JUCO. He played less than ten minutes a game. He really needs to improve his production in his second year.

Sanchez averaged 8.5 points, 11.75 blocks, 4.278 blocks, and 1.72 assists as a freshman at Monroe for a team that had 7 eventual D-1 scholarship players, but wasnot as good as NW Florida State.

It'd be nice to have another big body and our only low-post scoring threat--not to mention a junior with two years of college experience by the time he arrives to campus--but the baggage also can't be ignored.
