... Mullin really loves St Johns this cant be said for some of our posters. ...
Think you might want to reconsider that statement. Regardless of any bitching or moaning -- something we're all guilty of at times -- I can't think of a single poster on who doesn't love SJU basketball and who and lives and dies with the team.
Agreed Redken, I think the reason why some of us are so wound up so early on this season is because of our week OOC schedule. We all know that in order for this team to reach their goal of an NCAA Tournament berth they really can’t afford a loss OOC to lesser team. It could potentially be devastating. I just want to get through this early OOC schedule unscathed so that will gives us the team the easiest path towards reaching their goals. Otherwise , it pretty much either win the Big East or Big East Tournament or beat Duke to make up for for that horrible OOC loss. I don’t want to see us in that position. So far so good, love the fight in this team. We need Heron , Figgy and Clark to be more consistent. I know they won’t be lights out every game but we need a consistent level of play from night in and night out. Ponds can’t play hero every game. I think Trimble will find his game again when Keita comes back and Roberts get more experience so he can go back to the role that was originally meant for him. Not battling 6’10 guys down low.
Great environment at the game today. It was 98-99% St. John's fans.
Team didn't have it today but gutted it out. Mullin outcoached the sh*t out of Pastner. This game was won on the offensive glass. Great second half effort on D too.
How did your son enjoy his first St. John's game?
I believe one of the announcers said today it has been 23 years since an SJU team started 7-0. I assume that is close to correct. We should all enjoy it, especially those who go back less than 23 years since this is the best start you've ever seen!

He's still a little too young to actually enjoy it for more than a few minutes at a time so it came with a healthy dose of bribes. He became really interested when the crowd starting going nuts the last few minutes, though. I thought it was a great showing by our fans. South Florida is a strong base for us...I'd like to see us play more neutral court gsmes here. I feel like we have a stronger advantage than in Brooklyn.
Just watching this debacle after being out all day. What a disgrace in so many ways. Oh, and by the way, the casual look by Mullin really is piss poor. Show a little more respect for the position and the university and look the damn part, especially on the road.

Bob Huggins was asked once why he doesn't wear suits on the sideline...

What debacle? We just beat an ACC team on a neutral court on a cold shooting night. In what world is that a debacle? We're 7-0. We're top 20 in the NET and RPI. We're one of 12 unbeaten teams left in the country and we've played only three home games. If you're upset now, I'd recommend giving up sports or at the very least cheering for St. John's. This is one of the highest points of the last decade.

What a weird game to go to at a venue like that. There were probably only about 750-1000 in the crowd but everyone there was supporting SJU except for about a group of 20. Shoutout to those sitting in 107, ha. Not a pretty game, but Shamorie did his thing and carried them to a W along with SJU putting the clamps down on D and hitting the boards in the stretch run.
I was in 107 but only saw a handful of SJU fans. Everyone gathered at the outside bar overlooking the cruise ships after the game. I met Tarik Turner and Ty Grant, both really nice guys. Also the director of alumni relations Mark Andrews, who introduced me to Tarik and Ty. Watching Ponds live for the first time was a special experience. Almost lost my mind watching the missed foul shots and the silly foul near the end. A really nice comeback win.
I stayed around to see Texas Tech to watch Owens. He played a great last 6 or 8 minutes. I'm not one of those fans that turns on a player because he transfers. Tariq played hard for us for 2 seasons, and I'm sure has the bruises to show for it.
Owens' father must be having a fun time watching this big man-less team struggle in the paint.

The first half and a portion of the 2nd were horrible and painful to watch. Obviously a great comeback to remain unbeaten. Still too many warts on this team and wrt the staff.

You must be his father if that's what you think. We struggled in the paint both years that string bean played here and were outrebounded almost every game. We're 7-0 without him and are on our way to becoming the second team to dance after he left them. And for what? He's not getting the shots or the role he traded his loyalty for. Good riddance.

Maybe you should watch something where style points count like figure skating instead.
Delaware, I don't know what Mullin you where watching ?. What I saw is a Mullin who is beginning to learn how to Coach during a game. A great timeout at the end of the game after Simon missed the foul shots and the team became deflated and allowed an easy basket and foul. Gave the momentum back to us, remaindered me what Lou would have done.
This is a game that going into the second half - and certainly after the first few minutes of the second half - we would have lost 100 times out of 100 in the past handful of years, and likely by 20 points or more.
The ability to battle back and win games is a learned skill and is a cause for optimism. We are 7-0 and looking up, and I'll take it 100 times out of 100.
