Mets

The sad thing is that 4 years from now we will lose most of that great young pitching and probably will look back and say how did we not win a WS with that amazing staff. I still don't understand not taking a run at Cespedes. Whatever they pay him they will make tenfold in the long run. We are headed back to that crappy lineup we had back in July with Mayberry and Campbell hitting 4th and 5th.

Because attendance increased twenty percent last year and attendance always jumps the year after making it to the World Series because of more tickets sold before the season. In addition as long as they stay competitive with the Nationals and send out a stud pitcher every game attendance will be great. In addition SNY greatly increased its ratings to be on par with the Yankees. The Mets are the hot team right now. They were the most Googled sports team in the United States last year. The Wilpons know they are going to make big money this year and can always make another deadline trade to give the team a shot at a playoff run. The fans are stuck.

Window is next three years before Harvey leaves

The lineup isn't total crap but I like the Cubs to edge us out if nothing changes:

1. Grandy RF
2. Walker 2B
3. Wright 3B
4. Duda 1B
5. Conforto RF
6. d'Arnaud C
7. Cabrera SS
8. Lagares

Harvey won't last 3 years with Boras as the agent. The impending FA will make them move (start at 10 years and 300 mill) and the talent evaluation on the Harvey trade will be key. Plus signing DeGrom.

By National League standards, I agree it's not crap but there are many unknowns (Wright,D'Arnaud and injuries), (Duda, Granderson, Conforto) what are they going to produce? The other three will hopefully maintain there mediocrity. Our bench will be much weaker then the end of the season as well. Also we still need another not named Tyler Clippard. I think this team can make the playoffs but it will be a close call as it would have been this year if not for Cespedes and the National collapse.

True. Would have to trade him after next season then to get value. Won't get fair return with one year left on his contract.
Not going to sign any of those guys unless Wilpon's sell

Won't really have the chips to trade all those guys are on the roster now and Cespedes don't grow on trees. They pocketed the playoff /WS and Cuddyer money. Team is worse than the one from last year.

Not sure about that. I had never heard of Fulmer before the trade for Cespedes. And while he's now ranked as the Tigers' No. 1 prospect, he's still only the 98th ranked prospect according to MLB. Mets meanwhile have four prospects rated ahead of him (Nimmo, Rosario, Cecchini and Smith).

The team is better now than it was at the start of 2015, but nowhere near as good at the end of 2015.

Basically resembles lineup coming out of the gate last year. Before we realized Cuddyer was playing with a fork in his back. That role now will be played by Wright.

Lot of pressure on Duda / Conforto

Fullmer was actually a bigger prospect then DeGrom
If you go to Met site where they listed their top 10 prospects he was there for a few years. Didn't pitch up to that until last year though.

You're right.
I'm just saying the Mets still have some pretty good minor league trade chips if they were to go that way.

He will be traded before then

My guess is it will be after next season and I think they get a boatload back assuming he stays healthy

I actually think the farm system is the weakest it has been in years. Smith and Rosario have some upside. Don't think we get much for most of the others.

btw on slightly off topic a long time ago I hooked up with one of the Katz daughters. They lived in Glen Cove. . Wish I kept in touch with her after college. Never realized how rich she was other than the crazy house. She was really cool though. She was 2 grades younger than me I think

I never met her dad. Met her mom a few times when we were at the house and she was real nice. One of her uncles lived 2 houses from one of my best friends in glen cove. Didn't know him but one of his sons who was younger than us used to play baseball with us when we were kids

Any smart Mets fan will stay home until the team shows signs of competing for a pennant. I would expect that form this point onward, season ticket sales for 2016 will sag. It's fine, I liked buying Travelzoo discounted seats as late as Sept 23 this year.

The Wilpons had a chance to average 40,000 fans per game for an entire season. Now they will be lucky to average 30,000
