Now go out and sign Cespy
I can't see giving him 6 or 7 year contract
If I were guessing, he's probably around 35 years old now
Many Latin players are like ladies - they lie about their age

Cuddyer retiring. That frees up 12.5 million
Cuddyer's retirement is addition by subtraction
He didn't contribute much last year and we (theoretically) have an extra $12.5 mil to spend
Totally agree. He lost his outfield spot to Conforto because his skills had eroded completely. He was totally useless both at the plate and in the field the second half of last season.
Still very puzzled as to why he was signed by the Mets at 35 years of age while costing them a first round pick in the draft for signing him. Especially for a rebuilding team like the Mets were, when he was signed. .
I think the Mets signed Cuddyer because he is David Wright's buddy
Maybe, but don't short change the influence he had on and the professionalism he brought to the clubhouse. He helped them learn how to win.

Agreed. I don't want that long term deal. Cubs gave 8 years to Heyward who is 28. That I'm fine with.
5 and $125 mill is what I would offer. If he rejects get Parra or Span
probably will and if we made solid 5 year off but he got 6 I won't be upset as long as we spent money and got one of the other 2Now go out and sign Cespy

That is a fair offer. Having said that, I'd bet he will get at least 6 years from someone

That is true but $12.5 mil is a steep price to pay for a good guy
I'm a good guy - they could have had me for a lot less

Didn't even want to shop in tier two-Parra, Span
Went straight to scrap heap
Replaced Cespedes with Lagares /Dominican Niewenhuis platoon

That's the f'ed up thing about this. I would have been very happy with 2nd tier Parra or Span
This is like 8th tier
Not surprising.
They're of the mindset that last year will repeat itself.... be competitive and then make moves in late July.
Considering the cheapness of ownership. I would have preferred not to re sign Colon for 7 million plus to get Span.
How is it we still have the budget of a small-market team? My only hope is maybe they are leveraging this against Boras and are bringing this scrub in to be the 5th OF. All I see is a club shooting itself in the foot with its fans. The Coupons strike again!
