Mets

Like him better than Zobrist and you save money you were going spend on Zobrist. Go resign Cespedes. lol
Wilpon's suck

Free agent at end of 2016. He will be one and done until Herrera is ready. Already going to arbitration with an $8 million contract. Give mets credit for jumping on this as soon as Zobrist was off the table. Instead of aneing up for Murphy, they get a good bat, a better glove, and a year for Herrera. Nice move for the inconsistent Niese. Now they should sign Colon to a one year deal.

Asdruba Cabrera. Not sure I get this one

Don't know much about him.

What I take away from this: the Mets are putting all their money on Conforto becoming a legit everyday power threat. Because after this move, I don't see them spending the necessary $$$ on a power FA.

Professional, but don't ignore the fact he can also play third; so he is better than Flores or Tejada at short and provides insurance for Wright. Not a bad signing IMO.

Must be really worried about Wright, because Cabrera is basically Flores now. Funny as a poster noted all the eggs if of now in Conforto basket. I think the kid will be great but that is too much pressure and I guarantee busted Cuddyer is playing LF against Lefty's to start season

Mets think they have figured out the formula. Pitching will keep them in the race and then a trade deadline they will go get a rental. Problem with that is Mets farm system is now not as strong because all their top guys are now here and Cespedes' don't grow on trees.

Rough estimate that Harvey, deGrom, Thor, Matz and Wheeler will run you about 125 million dollars a year down the road. Investing well over half a billion has the Wilpons shi&ting their pants. Thus, no impact bat will be coming via FA for the next 10 years

With the haul Atlanta just got for their pitcher I don't think Sandy has any intentions of keeping them all. It will be trade the 1st one eligble for free agency ( Harvey ) and get top line position player or players and top prospect or prospects and restock that way

And I'm fine with that because no way can we or anyone afford all the pitchers at 1 time down the road

One by one wave goodbye to those guys
Everyone knows this. Espn last night Curt Schilling came out and said it. Mets not going to keep those guys so your window is next 3 years. You have the cheapest / best pitching in baseball, if you will not spend now, YOU NEVER WILL!

When I was a youngin
Couldn't wait to get big
All in all, I stayed on my job
And you call me Cudi the Kid

Has anyone confirmed that he did not reach a buyout of some kind first?

Would be shocked if there wasn't. Still, that frees up some money.

Cuddyer retiring. That frees up 12.5 million

Cuddyer's retirement is addition by subtraction
He didn't contribute much last year and we (theoretically) have an extra $12.5 mil to spend

Totally agree. He lost his outfield spot to Conforto because his skills had eroded completely. He was totally useless both at the plate and in the field the second half of last season.
Still very puzzled as to why he was signed by the Mets at 35 years of age while costing them a first round pick in the draft for signing him. Especially for a rebuilding team like the Mets were, when he was signed. .

I think the Mets signed Cuddyer because he is David Wright's buddy

Maybe, but don't short change the influence he had on and the professionalism he brought to the clubhouse. He helped them learn how to win.
