Mets

Is everybody sure that the Mets are not better off with Wright a beloved figure from the history of the team gone, with Murphy now at his best position, third, and Cespedes in left?
. Not a huge Cespedes fan after seeing him for an extended period, just don't think he is worth the money it seems he will command. Like Duda it appears he takes way too many weak at bats with the ability to get ridiculously hot at times. In addition, he seems to have a huge hole in his swing up and in, the Royals have exploited that throughout the series. As for Murphy not sure, don't see the Mets giving him 3rd base and they want to play Herrara at 2nd.

Murphy taking way too much heat for the error. I watched the replay, and it's less than 50% that he gets the runner at first. It's not like the play gets us out of the inning. Runner safe, and the Royals are likely scoring runs with one out and the bases loaded. Runner out, next 2 batters single anyway. No guarantee that happens, but the Royals just don't give you easy outs. Bottom line is that Clippard has a hard time getting through an inning, and Familia not automatic against this Royals team.

Tickets are basically free at this point (at least compared to what I paid for crap seats. If Harvey is worth half of what he thinks he is, he'll be lights out tonight.

. Bottom line is Mets have not hit and fielding has been shoddy, relief pitching and managing very spotty. Hindsight aside Mets have not played well and are in the deep hole they earned and deserve. As Sleek718 said earlier, they have great starting pitching and far from the best team otherwise, so here's hoping they get three of the best games Harvey, DeGrom, and Syndegaard have.

Mets are stuck with Wright. So the poster suggesting otherwise...whatever. You ain't paying Murph 10-12 mil a year as a backup third basemen, period--and sorry, I'm not sure Murph has a "best position." Nothing gonna happen there.

Herrera will play 2nd next year, and the outfield will be Conforto (and let him hit lefties--he'll be an everyday player most likely), Lagares, and Grandy. Wilmer Flores probably becomes the primary utility infielder if Tejada claims the starting shortstop role or another SS is brought in. I'd be very surprised if the Mets maintain Murphy and/or Yoenis (remember, we get a draft pick for his free agency now if I'm not mistaken after that agreed upon "extension" or whatever that allows the Mets time to negotiate with him if they choose).

But I'll worry about the spring after the fall classic ends, hopefully on Wednesday. :)

peace.

Have to give credit to the Royals. They just know how to play, and try not to do too much when at bat. They swing at very few bad pitches, and take very few good ones. Their defense has been solid, and relief pitching mostly as advertised. Mets are playing with heart, but have little team speed, and can't put big innings together without the long ball. These days, when 5 innings of 3 run baseball is considered an achievement for a starting pitcher, you need shut down relievers. The funny part is that Colon, Reed and even Niese have got the job done. It's been Familia and Clippard that have not. I can't imagine watching a full year of Clippard, unless his downward slide is really due to a bad back.

Collins gets it wrong again, he didn't learn anything from last night. Brings Familia in behind the 8 ball again. Great, great game by Harvey but you manage with your head not emotion. Harvey not a complete game pitcher, has decidedly worse stats after 100 pitches, and Familia was arguably your MVP, certainly your stud. Should have been a no brainer.

the decision defies reason.

but baseball is for romantics. Cespedes could barely stand, but the attempt at a Kirk Gibson moment was admirable.

Harvey sure has a knack for drama. and the crowd sealed the deal. i can't criticize the move even though it's wrong. if anything, fans are culpable for potentially turning this into a tragedy.

no wonder we love this friggin' game. ugh. :)

(and Duda's throw was just horrible--that should be out 3 in my view)

Cespedes batting after he got hurt was stupid. You had to let harvey go out in the 9th. He was flat out dominant

Oh well. It is what it is. Hopefully the bats wake up this half inning

Besides that Duda throw was flat out embarrassing

. Harvey was dominant and did his job, you let Familia do his. How many complete games did the Mets have this year? As for the bats, pretty much like our defense, just not there.

. To think the FANS played a part in Collins' decision makes me feel even sicker.

KC has hit Familia. They werent hitting Harvey. I can sleep after this one if we lose this game on that decision

Duda kills me but our hitting better come alive right now

they didn't. Harvey went to TC and told him he wanted in
