Mets

Cespedes batting after he got hurt was stupid. You had to let harvey go out in the 9th. He was flat out dominant

Oh well. It is what it is. Hopefully the bats wake up this half inning

Besides that Duda throw was flat out embarrassing
. Harvey was dominant and did his job, you let Familia do his. How many complete games did the Mets have this year? As for the bats, pretty much like our defense, just not there.

KC has hit Familia. They werent hitting Harvey. I can sleep after this one if we lose this game on that decision

Duda kills me but our hitting better come alive right now
. So they should bench Murphy because he hasn't hit in the WS? New day, new game, you lose with your best and it goes without saying Familia is the Mets best in the 9th, one of the best in baseball.

Logen,

I doubt any will really question your points...

but semantics here man. 50 thousand fans, Harvey trying to claim the crown...just is. It's the STORY of baseball, to hell with reason. besides, Familia comes in and blows a save, everyone blames TC for taking out Harvey who was pitching game of his life till that last inning. just enjoy the ride homie--this is why we are Mets fans, and not fans of another team. :)

Romance defeated reason. Accept it. Or just continue embracing your agita. either way, the sun will rise tomorrow.

peace.

Game one - Familia and Wright.

Game four - Murphy.

Tonight - Duda.

I'm at Citi now. Turned from a party to a morgue. No one here has any belief that we'll score.

All that being said, Collins has done a terrible job this series (including taking Niese out just now for no good reason).

the biggest problem is WTF did he take Niese out

Collins gets it wrong again, he didn't learn anything from last night. Brings Familia in behind the 8 ball again. Great, great game by Harvey but you manage with your head not emotion. Harvey not a complete game pitcher, has decidedly worse stats after 100 pitches, and Familia was arguably your MVP, certainly your stud. Should have been a no brainer.

the decision defies reason.

but baseball is for romantics. Cespedes could barely stand, but the attempt at a Kirk Gibson moment was admirable.

Harvey sure has a knack for drama. and the crowd sealed the deal. i can't criticize the move even though it's wrong. if anything, fans are culpable for potentially turning this into a tragedy.

no wonder we love this friggin' game. ugh. :)

(and Duda's throw was just horrible--that should be out 3 in my view)
. To think the FANS played a part in Collins' decision makes me feel even sicker.

they didn't. Harvey went to TC and told him he wanted in
That's just about as bad, Harvey pitches, Collins manages, very, very few players ever want to come out in any game, any sport. That's why a manager has to take emotion out of the equation. We just disagree, to me it is an absolute no brainer.

I really don't understand why Reed was brought in and why he's been allowed to pitch this long.

This really sucks. I'm gonna be dogcrap tomorrow and....for what?

taking Niese out is the move that would keep me up at night. So to counter that I took an ambien so by 1 I will be sleeping

Why is Niese out?
.
I was also surprised
. More superb use of the bullpen, keep parading guys in until you get to someone who can lose the game. Just venting but Sleek718 hit the nail on the head yesterday, except for starting pitching we are just an average team. No hitting, very poor fielding and weak managing let us down big time. Alderson still has work to do to get us to the promised land. We got to the WS at least a year early but we were exposed by a much better team. Real good year but expect changes in the off season.

With this post we completely agree :)

This hurts bad but we blew too many opportunities to a team that is better than is in every category other than starting pitching.

If we are going to lose to anyone I'm glad it's a team that hasn't won in a long time like KC.

Come back next year hungry like KC did this year and learn from your mistakes

This post is a big reason I'm not as pissed off as I should be right now...well, that and the alcohol.

They're a better team that us. Besides the 6th inning of Game 3, we have sucked at putting any quality at-bats together. They field better than us, they're more sound than us, they certainly hit better than us...

In terms of Harvey, he had every right to start the 9th. He should have been lifted after the walk.

We have horses in our starting rotation. I don't like the way I feel, but this team was way more prepared to win than we were. Next year, that's not an excuse.

Still, a season I'll always love. Very unexpected. Just sucks to make it here and get kicked in the nuts, as usual.

. Agreed, now on to SJU HOOPS, CHRIS MULLIN STYLE

Dog crap?

How unfortunate.

As disappointing as this game, and series has been...through all of the errors, bad decisions, whatever...this team gave us something special this year that none of us saw coming. NONE of us.

And even in this crap show of an ending tonight...this team played its heart out this series.

It sucks to not take it all when so close, especially as the future is never guaranteed despite all of the positives for future years with this staff.

But I saw staff of KIDS carry a lousy team into the deep summer and hanging around. I saw a player cry to stay a Met, and another call Sandy expressing desire to not be traded. I saw Cespedes act like a Greek God for six weeks. I saw Harvey pitch 213 innings after Tommy John. I saw DeGrom build on an excellent rookie season. I saw Thor become a stud in about two months. I saw David Wright bust his ass to come back and prep each day for hours just to be the field. I saw Grandy adjust his game to be about the only offense for the first half and have one of the most consistently good seasons you could ever ask for. I saw Conforto hitting the hell out of the ball and making Keith Hernandez gush. I saw Tejada on crutches, all to make a play to win a playoff game. I saw a young catcher handle an amazingly young staff with maturity (even if his ability to throw out a runner stealing disappeared). I saw a manager who devoted his life to this game get a chance to experience one hell of a ride that will leave him stinging forever. I saw Wharthen have a health scare and the reaction of his staff. I saw Familia become a dominant closer when at best he was going to be a 7th inning reliever at the beginning of the year. I saw Bartolo strike out every bottom feeder NL east batter with 88 mph fastballs, and saw him do that behind the back flip on the short grounder in Miami. I saw Jonathon Niese provide some of the best relief in the playoffs when so many thought he wasn't even going to be, or even deserved to be, on a playoff roster. I finally saw Citi Field come alive with electric crowds. I saw Mets gear on every bus, train, and street corner. I saw Murphy imitate a Hall of Famer against a team that was supposed to be better than us. I saw the Mets defeat Greinke/Kershaw in July and in more importantly, October. I saw D'Arnaud get a hit with two outs in the bottom of the 12th, down five runs, in an elimination game of a world series, because that's what real players do. I saw a flawed team capture my imagination.

A team for the ages, not for their ending, but for the entire story that brought us to this here point. :)

Dog crap, because I was up all night last night, and played soccer today and, now, have been drinking ever since my game ended. I'm not drunk or anything, but if there was no WS game tonight, I would have been sleeping by 10 tonight.

On a weekend where clocks dropped back an hour...

I respect that you still made yourself exhausted. Right on, livin' life fully. :)

tonight is just part of the story.

peace.

maybe next year in the spring we will all do a met game together. We can get great rates on tix

hahaha, I have 2 kids which is a big reason for the no sleep. Always easier to stomach when we win

You had to atleast let Harvey start the 9th, but after the leadoff walk I would have gotten him out.
I thought Niese was gonna pitch a second inning and was surprised when Reed came in in the 12th.
