Mets

Maybe it's time for my medicine, but I think it is time to admit this team needs to be rebuilt. Trade Harvey, DeGrom, Familia and anybody else on the 40. Get the best AA players you can and admit failure. Oh and one other thing: Send Sandy to the unemployment line.

Trade Harvey, DeGrom, and Familia? Throw in Syndergaard, Matz, and Wheeler while you're at it. Whatever medication your taking, have the doctor increase the dosage immediately.

Team is a mess. We all know that. Thanks to the Wilpons and their finances, the team must be built like a small market team. Alderson has had to be perfect with the vet bats he signed. Unfortunately between Granderson and Cuddyer he went 0-2. It also didn't help that Wright was diagnosed with stenosis.

At this point, what is the use in giving Colon anymore starts. Just bring up Matz to take his spot. Bring up Conforto (but of course super 2 plays a role), put him in LF and platoon Granderson and Cuddyer. If nothing else, it will add something for us fans to look at.

Trace this nonsense all the way back to when the Wilpons and Doubleday (best Met owner, may he rest in peace) were splitting. Selig (because of his close relationship with Fred) gave a lower appraisal of the Mets allowing him to buy Doubleday's half.

That is the downfall of the Mets. Remember, there would be no Piazza without Doubleday. He was known to let the baseball people run the team.

But he spoke for the first time, and it was about getting Piazza. When an owner who doesn't have speak out finally does about a topic, people listen. The Wilpons were content on waiting for Todd Hundley to come back.

Sure they had a few good seasons, and spent money in 2004 and 2005. But as we see, the Wilpons needed every dime of Madoff money to pull that off. Doubleday fortune's were not tied to a ponzi scheme.

The only way we ever see any improvement (aside from divine intervention and the Wilpons sell) is Conforto is a legitimate hitter immediately and Matz is Harvey and DeGrom 2.0.

And even if that happens, they need to find as many good arms in the bullpen as possible. As constructed, this team will play an inordinate number of 3-2 and 2-1 games. Better make sure they win the majority of them, because they will never hit enough to win laughers.

Being a Met fan is beyond frustrating.

Some of you believe the BS about the Met pitching. Fangraphs has the Mets third, behind the Nats and Dodgers and just ahead of the Cubs. Let's face it, third best is just not that good. And pitching is the strength of the Mets. Relief pitching, defense, hitting...they all stink. It's not like adding one player is going to make the Mets a contender. Fire S.A. and rebuild.

What's Omar doing?

He's in San Diego, enjoying laid back life working for the Padres.

I strongly believe that Sandy is an MLB implant directly from the commissioner's office because the Mets and our glorious owners owe a whole lot of money back to the league. It is my understanding that we took on multiple loans from the league itself, and Sandy is under direct orders not to spend money. Allegedly, any move he wants to make is reviewed by the commish's office with strict scrutiny.

-No lead off hitter
-Worst middle infield in baseball?
-Wright's career plunging
-Same with Granderson
-Duda a one year wonder
-Cuddyer injury prone and inflated CO stats
-d'Arnaud still not there def or off
-Flores inflated meaningless Sept stats

But hey, we've got great pitching!

Glad Flores has proven me wrong. Otherwise.....

Well if fangraphs says so, it clinches it for me. Trade the entire stable of pitchers in their mid-20s, and rebuild. Forget the fact that those stats are misleading because it isn't easy to pitch when you know that 2 runs over 7 innings will equal a loss.

Sometimes stats should be kept in a geek's basement and not shared with the masses. Further proof, ask around the league what is the value of the Mets pitching. After Kershaw, King Felix, Scherzer, I bet the next group is Harvey and DeGrom.

And who should we move them for? Great idea, let's pillage the teams with the most stacked A ball and DSL systems.

Please tell me you are a Yankees or Braves, or Phillies fan who is trying to be funny. Met are horrible. But lumping the pitching as a reason is bizarre.

This team literally just needs to get healthy and add 1 really good bat. But that won't happen. I guarantee Terry will get canned this year and we will win the World Series in 2017 or 18. That 5 year plan they peddled years ago really turned out to be a 8 or 9 year plan. Still will be worth it in the long run

The question is who is a really good bat? Reporters have tossed around guys such as Zobrist, and A. Ramirez. Don't believe these guys would make a big difference. I wouldn't mind getting Tulowitzki

would remind me of our trade for Piazza. Cheapo owners and smirk face Alderson probably are looking to put a band aid on this problem. Recently I recommended Segura from Milwaukee to replace Flores at short. We would still need more but would secure our shortstop problem for the future.

So trade away 3 excellent top of the line and I mean TOP of the line pitchers who are 25,26,27 for AA players who haven't proven a thing in the majors who are maybe at best 3 or 4 years younger ?

Time for your AA meeting. No offense but this is the type of trade idea that I love to hear on Francesa when he ridicules the caller

You gotta be a yankee fan

how about Todd Frazier of the Reds ? Toms river kid.

After all star break Collins will be fired and Backman brought up to appease fans. Matz will be called up and Niese will be traded for someone like Aramis Ramirez. Team will win 82 games and blame all the injuries. No upgrades to offense will be made and Alderson will be fired at some point next year.

Hopefully one of the Wilpons gets caught saying something racist and MLB forces them to sell!

That would be a great trade , especially since he's hitting the cover off the ball and is the Red's best player. However, you realize we would have to give up deGrom or Matz plus to get him.

You gotta give something to get something I suspect that's why it won't get done with SA.

Source says #Mets calling up Matz. Two different club officials declined comment when asked. Team again could be pondering six-man rotation.

Not going to do anything about the offense or spend any money so this is a nice way of throwing the fans a bone.

I find the negativity comical. Some clown posted that statistically the Mets "only" had the third best pitching in the NL and that was "not good." WTF!? On paper, the Nats have one of the best staffs ever assembled. The Dodgers also have a pretty sick staff. The entire Mets rotation makes less than either of the aces for those teams and we have all our young guys signed for the next 4-5 years (counting arbitration eligible years). We'll see Matz for the first time this weekend and that kid is for real.

It's amazing our duct-taped bullpen held up until early June like it did. We have two guys that we broke spring training with. Help is on the way. Vic Black, who was automatic in the 7th and 8th last year, will be called up in the next two weeks. Mejia comes back from suspension on 7/7 and is already pitching in the minors. Goeddel will be ready any day and Blevins--the lefty specialist we sorely lack--will be back by the All-Star break. Buddy Carlyle won't be far behind. We'll have the best bullpen in the NL in a month.

The offense obviously hasn't been good and will never be stellar, but it's solid when Murphy is in the lineup. Without him protecting Duda, there is no reason to give him a pitch to hit. Pitchers respect Murphy at the plate. Wright will likely be back at the break and his hamstring is completely healed. He was raking before he left. If he can give us .285 and 8-12 homers in the second half, this is a different team. It's also a big deal to have d"Arnaud, who has had a very good season at the plate, in the lineup. Plawecki has been underwhelming thus far.

You have to be excited with what you see from Flores. He's a below average fielder (admittedly looks much better when Herrera is in there with him) but he's on pace for 25 and 80 as a young short stop batting at the end of the lineup. His average (and power) will only go up with experience and he should get marginally better in the field over time as well. We can win a championship if he can give us .260 and 20 homers.

Herrera will be a multi-year all-star starting around the age of 23-24 (2-3 years). He's been in a slump since coming back from the DL, but I think we'll see a very SHARP turnaround during the upcoming home stand.

And Conforto! That is kid is just weeks away IMO and he is a lock to hit .290 starting next year. There are a ton of reasons to be optimistic this season.

I'd fire TC immediately. He is annoying as hell and I can't take his lineup tinkering. Don't send Harvey and deGrom into the 7th or 8th on such a short leash when our bullpen is doing this poorly. How the hell is Robles in a better position to come in cold with runners on than one of our aces who is killing it all game? Infuriating. Don't mess with my aces!

MEET THE MATZ! (one of the dailies will do that as a headline probably)

Wow. What a debut.

This staff is rounding out so nicely for the future.

And to all who want a DH throughout baseball...

this young man is a BASEBALL PLAYER. Scruffin' it up on the base-paths, hit and run, line drives...what a throwback.

Please put a major league team behind these pitchers.
