Mets

Washington has really fallen apart this season and today things got real ugly with Jonathan Papelbon & Bryce Harper fighting in the Nationals dugout. I for one truly despise Papelbon but he may have been right in this case, as Harper didn't run out a short fly to left and Papelbon said something. See for yourself as this dugout scene was so much better than Billy Martin and Reggie Jackson.

I'm not a Harper fan but who the heck is Papelbon. He comes over in late July at trade deadline, doesn't get anyone out and needlessly throws at the other team. He should shut his mouth and do his job. Harper, who will probably win NL MVP, should've kicked his ash. papelbon does not have a good reputation as a teammate. You could say that the Papelbon trade ended the Nats season. Storen was never teh same after the trade.

I don't like when Cespedes doesn't run the ball out as well but I wouldn't expect Eric O'Flaherty to call him out either.

Watch the video. Papelbon baited him and obviously has a bug up his butt about Harper. He yelled loudly to embarrass Harper and then charged him as soon as Harper said something back to him in the dugout. Best way to end your Nationals career by risking injury to their best player. After it was over Papelbon had a satisfied smirk on his face after the clubhouse. Papelbon is a punk - plain and simple. Nationals announcers in the aftermath said that Harper had been busting it all year, I don't like Harper and hate how players (Cespedes is a big offender) don't run out dropped third strikes or routine plays. But if Papelbon had something to say, it could have waited to the clubhouse or in private. Instead his point was to try to embarrass the de facto MVP of the NL, and instead ends up looking like an ass.

Was mad that Harper criticized him for hitting Machado. Papelbon was looking for a reason

Looks like Niese will move to the bullpen for the remainder of the regular season. Don't see him making the post season roster. I don't think he can pitch out if the pen but I guess we'll see. Mets do need in a lefty in the pen. Too bad Blevins never made it back from his injury.

I think Collins said Colon and Niese would both make roster.

If you purchase one of the packages for next year you can get playoff ticks this year

He requested the move, knowing he won't be in the rotation, and trying to do anything he can to help. This week will be an audition. I suspect with the failures of middle relief, he will get strong consideration.

I know some of you guys have been bashing Harvey, but my opinion was that Harvey took a giant step forward towards reclaiming the the title of dean of the staff. He was supposed to get pulled after 5 innings, asked to go out for the 6th, and demanded he go out for the 7th. In doing so, he batted aside Boras' directives, and clearly demonstrated that he is here to win a championship in 2016. Throw in electric stuff that topped out at 98 mph, and how he is determined to shut a lot of critics up, and this could be one special post season for Harvey.

On a related front, Duda showed over the weekend how his bat can carry a team in ways that maybe only Cespedes can do. His homeruns were rockets, and although there can be more consistent bats at first base, it is a power position that should be manned by someone capable of 25-35 home runs.

So nice to see David Wright contributing in ways reminiscent of the number 5 of old. His recent homeruns reminded fans just how strong he is, muscling balls out of the deepest parts of the ballpark. His glovework has been good too.

Flores made a spectacular play at short to start a double play, and perhaps he will get the lions share of playing time at SS if his overall play warrants it.

Boy, Marillac sang Conforto's praises early on and he was dead on. This kid is a joy to watch, and with the acquisition of Cespedes, was allowed to do it quietly without too much pressure. He's a future all start, and that's not even going out on a limb.

Granderson has simply been superb and done everything asked of him, sacrificing 20-25 rbi's by hitting out of the one hole. His 90 walks show just how much he transformed his game to become a table setter.

Who will be the team's number 1 pitcher in the next three years? Harvey, deGrom, MAtz, Syndergaard. IF you answered all of the above, you might have the correct answer.

Lost in the development of so many young players in Familia. Man, this kid seemed to come out of nowhere, and like many closers, although he gives us some anxious moments, has some really nasty stuff.

You've gotta love Travis d'arnaud. Lost in his considerable offensive ability is the fact that he has been gunning guys out at second with frequency lately. His defense has improved tremendously and it's all a result of hard work.

This team has all the earmarks of a team poised for October greatness. Let's hope they leave it all on the field.

I can see Justin Turner putting the stake through our hearts. Never liked him when he was with the Mets. That feeling is solely due to the color of his hair

And to think Papelbon has another year on his contract. Bye, bye Williams and Rizzo.

After writing that, saw an article by CJ Nitkowski. He interviewed 12 players for their opinion of the altercation, and every single one sided with Papelbon.

I have a feeling that neither Harper or Papelbon are very popular in the dressing room.

Duda is on fire. Hope it continues through the playoffs.

Still not convinced about Niese out of the pen. I guess we'll see what happens.

Hernandez and Darling were discussing how he should be trialed this week in late inning lefty-lefty matchups since they don't have a lefty reliever in the pen. Specifically spoke of preparing him to face AG in the Dodgers series. Makes sense to me (but not in the 9th, obviously)
