Mets

Huge win. Looking good but the Nats don't play another team over .500 until the final series.

You can pretty much turn off the National League from now until the Wild Card game. The Pirates and Cubs are vying to see who hosts that game, but everything else is pretty much decided with more then 3 weeks still to go.

Cuddyer needs to give that belt to Kelly Johnson.

And the Mets need to give Cespedes a blank check. Unreal.

There are certainly some supernatural forces at work here. This glitch has escaped the matrix. Flores dealt, he cries, Gomez beat up, Sandy backs off on that trade, and then Cespedes.

Wow.

Tonight was the anniversary of the famous black cat game vs. the Chicago Cubs in 1969, where a black cat entered the field on the third base line, darted up the line towards home plate, but froze in front of the Cubs dugout, The hex did the Cubs in, with the Mets winning at Shea to cut what was a 9.5 game lead to just a 1/2 game. The next night the Mets moved into first never to look back.

In a series that will go down as just a memorable, the Mets just about doused any hope for the Nationals that they would catch the Mets. Coming into this series, the Nationals had a full head of steam, and seemed poised to sweep the Mets and cut the lead to a paltry game - potential slicing 5 1/2 games off the Mets lead in just a week.

Instead, the Mets played like a team of destiny, and no Nationals lead could extinguish the confidence and enthusiasm that has morphed this team into legitimate championship caliber. Watching both the dugout and bullpen (where Cespedes home run sailed) and you would have thought this was a team of little league boys the way they celebrated.

Wow. The Mets in first and Mullin the coach of the Johnnies. 2015 is shaping up to be a heck of a year.

for those who are on Facebook check out jim breuer's Facebook post tonight after the game with his mom in the car. hilarious ! His videos on met game days are classic

Not true. Mets are 3 behind the Dodgers for home field in their series. I want that

Can six weeks make one an MVP?

Unbelievable.

David Wright raised the same question last night. I think it's a legitimate argument. Cespedes, at the most critical juncture of the season is far and away the most important factor in the Mets recent surge. I think he will get MVP votes, but not nearly what he deserves. Bryce Harper has had a great year, but Cespedes has contributed mightily to win after win and by all means supercharged this surge. No lead has been safe against the Mets, and Cespedes is reason number one.

Sandy Alderson deserves executive of the year honors, if for no other reason than the midseason moves that brought in a bevy of seasoned veterans that not only have paid dividends now, but give Collins many options off the bench and to fill in for injuries.

This is my favorite Mets team in eons. 69 can never be repeated. 73 was an awesome September charge. 86 simply steamrolled everyone early. The rest don't even compare, although 2006 was great until the Cards stopped them.

This promised to be a fantastic September, and the Mets have delivered exciting, nail biting, baseball. You simply cannot count these guys out. Great job.

Cespedes is making Beltrans playoff surge with the Astros seem small. His pricetag is surging faster than the national debt. This may go to $200 million before its all over.

Call me cynical but Cespedes is playing for a contract now. Not sure how he will perform once he gets long term money and age sets in.

That is what Cespedes reminds of, Beltran Astros run in playoffs

I was talking about it with a client today. If we don't sign Cespedes I'm not going to freak out if we at least give it a legit effort. Even if we didn't I won't freak out I guess since i didn't think we were going to sign him before the contract alteration.

He is giving us a great ride right now and we didn't give up the farm to get him so I'm just enjoying this ride. The reality is with the way he is playing right now and assuming it continues I might not want to be paying such monstrous numbers anyway considering we gotta start paying pitchers down the road

I hear what you are saying and I more or less agree with you but after two months of Cespedes it'll be hard to go back to everyday of Juan Lagares and his .260 batting average and 6 homeruns.

true but I think he can be a .280 or so hitter with amazing glove and I'm hoping for big things from Conforto and if that's the case maybe our offense doesn't have as many holes as it did a few months ago but obviously not nearly as great as with Cespedes. At least that's what I hope for but being a met fan and st johns fan I'm kind of used to being disappointed now :)

Cespedes is like a fire breathing dragon right now

I'm officially on dodger watch now

In all my years as a Mets fan, only one other player hit the ball consistently as hard as Cespedes - Mike Piazza. The sound of the bat solidly meeting ball is like a small explosion.

I wonder if the evil empire takes a run at Cespedes. They are due for a good old 175m 7 year contract.
