Mets and Cespedes alter contract so now they don't only have 5 days after the world series to reach new contract

Can we take that as a positive sign that Freddy Coupon will at least consider resigning Cespedes or all smoke and mirrors?
with the way he has been tearing it up I take this as a huge positive since I thought there was no chance of him coming back within 5 days

We need to resign Cespedes and keep him in CF so we can finally replace Beltran on the all time greatest Met team lists.

maybe. if anything, i thought the organization would use the five day cap as some form of excuse for not evening trying. i still have doubts, especially as Cespedes seems to be adding another mil every at bat to his next contract, but who knows? maybe he wants a home and this is it? if boras isn't his agent, maybe it ain't skies the limit and we will have some dollars for these pitchers down the line.

but the eyes don't deceive. he's been an absolute stud. and he's been solid in center too. so yeah, pay the guy. bet most mets fans would rather put the money here than with harvey down the line? :)

With what we've seen of Alderson, I think this is a great move. The Mets announcers are absolutely swooning over Cespedes, and it appears that D'Arneau and Conforto are real deals, and Wright has come back stronger than anyone hoped. This could be a place for Cespedes to flourish for the next part of his career.

Just yesterday his long swing and very fast bat were being compared to Mays. Perhaps the Mets can overwhelm him with a huge 4 year deal.

When is the last time that happened? Bobby I'll Show You The Bronx Bonilla? :)

The Mets have proven you can't just put one toe in the free agent market. You end up with George Foster, Bonilla, Vince Coleman, Jason Bay, and the like.

Not for nothing...d'Arnaud just bailed Storen out. Why swing?

Win or lose...hard not to like this team a lot. They just don't give up.

Wow !! Nat's go down quicker in washington than Monica Lewinski
. Well I surely can't top that but I am very glad to be proven wrong about this team. Great win

Ya Gotta Believe!

Doom and gloomers may have to wait for another season. This was another in a series of signature comebacks, and should the Mets win the pennant, will be remembered for many years.

In the Daily News, artist Bill Gallo would put goat horns on a player when he played horribly. Cespedes in one game was both goat and hero. What a ride!!! This race isn't cruising down the highway in a Lamborghini, it's more like the running of the bulls.
