Mets

anyone else stick with this game? :)

the good karma continues...

down five early, whatever. tie it up quickly.

starters not being up their usual standards of late? that's okay, Torres will save the day...

just what the hell? :)

I am travelling and was in a hotel room following on fox sports for batter by batter updates. Then i said freak that and bought a months radio subscription to mlb at bat radio. Listened to the mey announcers the rest of tge way till the end. Old school radio. Great win again. Its quickly becoming theirs to lose

I am travelling pretty much weekly now to San Jose. Has anyone found a way to stream the games on the road? The game cast option on ESPN is so slow. I know Beast mentioned a radio option. I need some visual even if its paid.

mlb.tv may be your best bet. They should have a nice discount now since theres only a month left.

I have friends that subscribe to MLB network through their cable provider and can watch all games on their phone. I guess its like ESPN 3 but you can get all base ball games.

Why on Earth would Collins bring in Torres when Clippard was already warming up. And...not that I have to say it, but O'Flaherty is complete garbage.

By the end of the season O'Flaherty's era will be higher than Murphys batting average

Can we DFA O'Flaherty already. The guy is a complete disaster. No lead is safe with him. Righties and lefties are both hitting over .400 against him. Maybe they should bring up Matz to work out of the pen for the last month of the season and just keep Verrett as your 6th starter.

Why in the world did Alderson get this loser? Lefty specialist? Don't think so. Alvarez can't be any worse then him. Should have been long gone by now.

if this all continues, and the Mets make the playoffs without last minute drama...

does Collins get Manager of the Year consideration???

I do admire how this team stayed at .500 before reinforcements arrived. This team could have been straight garbage after that early July stink when they couldn't score, but then fought hard out in LA and...

now that Collins has some talent, he seems to be doing just fine with it...

he has certainly grown on me in terms of personality.

no pinching Beast, keep dreaming, it seems to be working. :)

He's been doing a great job lately. Offensively, though, it has pretty much been common sense based on lefty/right splits. He said this is the best bench he's ever had.

As far as pitching goes, he never seems to make the right decision--even during this great stretch. He can get away with that with huge leads against the Rockies and the Phillies, but not in close games against a top team like the Pirates.

BTW, Collins has never been in the playoffs in all his years as a manager.

That's why I heckled the guy and Clippard came to his defense because he recommended him. Clippard makes me real nervous as well.

we won again ? wow !

You say that everyday. Ya Gotta believe.

What a terrible play by Lagares. We have blown too many chances tonight.

If it wound up a double or a triple, or if Swihart was thrown out at home, the Red Sox probably challenge it, and it gets changed to a home run anyway. Ball was clearly over the wall.

The criticism of Cespedes on that play was somewhat justified though...he didn't budge, had his hands on knees that whole play. Lagares saw it hit above the line, so I don't fault him.

Ugly damn game. Verrett gave away another good Harvey start (is Matt cursed or something?), but not sure the Mets should have won this game. Lots of LOBs, and the runs they scored were mistakes anyway (error, Flores running through Tuefel's stop sign and Boston pitchers walking everyone).

peace

Still you play it out you never know what the call will be. Cespedes should have backed up the play and Lagares should have hustled more or why go after the ball at all.

Thought they should have pinch hit Murphy for Tejada in the 7th with the bases loaded.

I think you are fortunate that Clippard didn't fire a fastball at your head when you heckled O'Flaherty. :)

I don't really get hecklers. In a way it's cowardice - hecklers shout insults to prominent people in public forums knowing they are somewhat protected from the ramifications of their insults. A guy like O'Flaherty may be getting bombed, but do you think for a second that he's not trying his hardest to do well (or even survive) in a very public profession?

Those ramifications happen on occasion. When questioned if he regretted throwing a heckler through a first story plate glass window, Barkley said, "I really do regret it. I wish it had been the third floor"

Cespedes beginning to show some signs that he isn't exactly Charlie Hustle. On dropped ball strikeouts, he simply turns and walks to the dugout even when the ball bounds far enough away that the catcher would have had to make a throw.

Without top notch middle relief, more 6 inning 100 pitch gems are going to be wasted. It reminds me of Pedro's first year with the Mets where if the game ended when he departed, he would have won 23 or 24 games.

You're right :) I'm a glass half empty person by nature. My assistant and I figured by the time I get back the met lead would be down to 1 game. This is great reading each night

Maher, we understand...

but right now, the Nats just don't seem capable of pushing us enough. Never know how things can shake out of course, for 2007 will always leave me suspect of success.

hopefully they get back on path today and pull a W...

and as for Cespedes...does David Wright/Cuddyer/Grandy pull him aside and say, "dude, you the man...but baseball requires some HUSTLE"?

There's a reason why a guy with his talent has been on 4 teams in 4 years.

I was at the game and sat by third base (way up). It was probably the best view I've eve had a t a baseball game. I was screaming for Cespedes to get after that ball when it came off the bat. He just stood there hunched over with his hands on his knees. The batter ran 360 feet and all he had to do was run 100--whether or not it was over the wall is immaterial. Even Granderson moved more from RF and he had no chance. I'm not sure I've ever seen a lazier play in my life.

What was TC thinking batting Tejada with the bases loaded against a righty with the game tied in the bottom of the 7th and the bases loaded? Infuriating. He had big lefty bats in Conforto and Murphy and a big righty bat in Uribe. Tejada is batting .251 against lefties this year with no homers. Murphy is batting .304 against lefties with 9 homers and has been tearing the cover off the ball for over a month now. You don't get a more tailor-made pinch hitting situation than that...second base is Murphy's natural position and Flores has played a 100 games at short stop...just slide him over from second.

I am as positive a Mets fan as there is, but Terry Collins is garbage. They beat the piss out of some awful NL teams but they can't beat a good team or win a close game with help form the dugout. Has TC made a good pitching decision once this year? I'm sure he has, but it really feels like he blows every single one and that is a huge reason why Harvey and deGrom don't have 30-35 combined win with their insane ERAs.

Every other manager in baseball pinch-hits Murphy in that situation but TC.
