Colon has struggled of late, but that's an unfair dig. Though I certainly understand the sentiment. :)

For two years, he is out there doing his thing, giving a team innings and anchors a very young staff. It may very well be that he doesn't make a postseason roster, but his contributions these two seasons have been solid. Not everyone is 25 and throwing 98. But for a guy fatter and older than I am, I can't complain with what he has provided.

He has been an every other start pitcher. He went 3 and got hammered vs the Rockies. His was a huge start for him.
 
Not to make it sappy but a very sweet image of a dad and a son who has some sort of disability sitting behind the plate.
 
Why on Earth would Collins bring in Torres when Clippard was already warming up. And...not that I have to say it, but O'Flaherty is complete garbage.

By the end of the season O'Flaherty's era will be higher than Murphys batting average
 
Can't blame TC for bringing in Torres. He can't use Clippard/Familys EVERY game. That was on O'Flaherty more so than Torres. And he has been garbage. The only bad thing Clippard has done as a Met was tell Mets brass that O'Flaherty was worth claiming off of waivers. How wrong he was. Robles has pitched in three straight, and Gilmartin may be off limits for another night after going 3+ two nights back?

Middle relief will be less an issue in postseason if we make it. Matz or Noah would probably be in the pen during a series.

Good thing is this offense is having a great time in that ballpark and padded the lead again.

does Collins get Manager of the Year consideration???

I do admire how this team stayed at .500 before reinforcements arrived. This team could have been straight garbage after that early July stink when they couldn't score, but then fought hard out in LA and...

now that Collins has some talent, he seems to be doing just fine with it...

he has certainly grown on me in terms of personality.

no pinching Beast, keep dreaming, it seems to be working. :)

He's been doing a great job lately. Offensively, though, it has pretty much been common sense based on lefty/right splits. He said this is the best bench he's ever had.

As far as pitching goes, he never seems to make the right decision--even during this great stretch. He can get away with that with huge leads against the Rockies and the Phillies, but not in close games against a top team like the Pirates.

Can we DFA O'Flaherty already. The guy is a complete disaster. No lead is safe with him. Righties and lefties are both hitting over .400 against him. Maybe they should bring up Matz to work out of the pen for the last month of the season and just keep Verrett as your 6th starter.

Collins is hands down Manager of the year. The Met's were picked 3rd/4th in the division preseason.
 
I think the Mets have the best bottom of the lineup in baseball.

Not when Recker plays. I would prefer Plawecki in the playoffs. Heckled O'Flaherty when he was having a catch with Clippard. Clippard got all testy. O'Flaherty needs to go.

Pretty much only a few Mets. Guys like Oliver Perez before he left. O'Flaherty has gotten under my skin.
 
A trip to Colorado followed by a trip to Philly hasn't been very good for Niese's ERA.
Be interesting to see if the Mets can make it all the way back from a five run deficit.

I got yelled at to get to sleep. I turned it off in the 11th.
