Mets

My first time seeing deGrom live and he did not fail to impress. For my money he's our best arm right now. That could change in October with the horses around him

I've watched more Mets in the last four weeks than I have in the last seven or eight years. Indeed, this is just pure fun at this point. Watching these three youngsters is on par with watching the mid-80s staffs with Doc, Cone, Ojeda, Darling, etc. That they're all hard throwin' studs makes it even more fun. Niese has held his own, and hopefully Colon can maintain down the stretch and put up some innings at the least.

I hope Matz can come back. I'm really worried about the pansy innings/pitch count "shutdown" warnings of these youngsters. I understand why teams are cautious with young pitchers, but is there anything substantial to prove that shutting down a young arm is actually beneficial? Heck, maybe Dillon Gee can spot start here and there in September if this team's lead over Washington continues to grow. He had a few good starts in Nevada recently if I remember correctly. Be a shame if this team doesn't go full throttle over worrying about futures that can never be predicted. Let these kids pitch, stop with the pansy stuff. Baseball has become too pansy. :)

I love looking at the line up and seeing .253 as the lowest average, instead of the highlight average of position players. Nice that our pitcher isn't the sixth best hitter in the lineup as it seemed in June/July. And as much as I think the Cuddyer signing has been weak, he has come back and played well. He, Grandy, and Uribe are the right type of vets for an otherwise fairly young team.

Hope Kershaw gives us a rub tonight against the Nats and this amazin'-ess continues.

peace y'alls.

Great post. Matz can't come back soon enough for me. Just gotta hope we can build on the lead so we can toss some other pitchers in toward the end but I'm not buying the innings pitched thing.

If we are in it we are going for the jugular near the playoffs. I f'ing hate the innings pitched thing anyway. It's so stupid. Pitch count is much more important. Guy throws 100 pitches in 5 innings or 87 in 8 and they are going to look at the 5 inning more favorably ? Totally idiotic

he's our best arm for the next twelve hours :)

...Harvey, Viking, and DeGrom pushing each other and getting better. How can you pick just one? :)

peace.

And Niese has been pitching damn well. If he keeps this up it's huge for us and either a fantastic 4-5 starter or a great chip for a trade next yr. He is really building value and has 3 yrs left on his contract including club options

Was there last night. I've seen Harvey, Syndergaard, and DeGrom live this year. The change in atmosphere has been radical. Just a month ago, the place was blasé, with little buzz in the stands. Last night, on a Wednesday, 37,000 loud and engaged fans showed up. The lines to get in were pretty long, and they have to consider a faster way to get people into the stadium.

It's amazing how many long dormant Mets fans there were in this city. It's also amazing how many teens have jumped on the Mets bandwagon. So cool to finally see the Mets grab a bigger share of NYCs baseball interest. To me at least, this is more exciting than 2006.

Gotta love playing in the worst division in baseball!!! ;)

We don't play in the AL central

From top to bottom, the AL Central is way better than the NL East. This might not be the best comparison, but as a league, the AL Central is 10 games over .500 (287-277) and the NL East is 34 games under .500 (273-307).

The AL Central's first place team is 68-45....which also just happens to be the best team in the AL....the NL East's first place team is 62-52. The second place teams are almost identical at 57-56 and 58-55. The 3rd and 4th place teams in the AL Central are both within 4 games of being .500. The 3rd and 4th place teams in the NL East are 12 and 22 games games under .500.

Finally, the worst team in the AL Central is the Indians with a current record of 53-59. And then there are the Phillies, the last place team in the NL East. They posses a record of 46-69.

By the way, those 4th and 5th place teams, the Marlins and Phillies.....they are also the two worst records in all of baseball.

So you want to explain to me again why the AL Central is the worst division in baseball?

Who cares? The Mets are in first place, and after years of doldrums could care less what anyone thinks of the division.

I honestly believe if you moved to California you would cure their record drought by all the dark clouds and rain you bring

I am not a Mets fan, so I can absolutely make a statement like that.

Then go away. St. John's is in the middle of a rebuild, the jets are a train wreck once again with geno smith getting popped in the face, and the mets have been bad for 8+ years. Let the mets fans enjoy something without coming in and trying to get under people's skin.

Now before you give us the whole "I can give whatever opinion I want" speech, I wanna say your entitled to your opinion, and I'm entitled to mine that you are only projecting it to make people mad.

You guys can keep him. We'll take our chances with the drought.

I love how you haven't made a comment on this topic in over a week, and when you finally do, its to sit there and bash me.
