Mets

Nice win today(hopefully not jinxing it). It's easy to look ahead at the next series so 2-1 against the Pads is a nice series
Kiss of death !!!!!!!

God Damn this sucks.

7-1 I thought we were good to go! But jumbo decided to use his evil powers to propel the Pads

C'mon, a real Mets fan knows that in the last 24 hours, we've racked up about half a dozen self-inflicted gunshot wounds or something in a variety of ways, on many levels.

:)
Maybe when Sandy leaves they can hire Plaxico Burress to replace him.

Gomez to Astros, guess Astros medical staff is more confident  . Maybe we should trade Wright there and they will find out he just had a stiff back

Wilponsies probably gave the go ahead to Alderson and said they were willing to spend for a bat and when they heard how much for Gomez nixed the deal. Heard they are inquiring on whether Don Hahn or Don Bosch has anything left.

You are right on; very hard to buy into this team because you know the Wilpons will not pay and keep the young core pitchers together never mind pay to field a major league caliber every day line-up. I am a lifetime fan of all the teams I root for but I am slowly giving up on the Mets; the Wilpons have created a losing culture and that is not going to change as long as they own the team.

First off, I would take Bruce in a second. He is a power bat, and is under contract at a reasonable amount.

Sure ideally the Mets have a need for a CF, but more importantly they need a bat. The Gomez deal fell apart and Parra isn't happening because the Mets and Brewers are not exactly on good terms.

If the Mets operated like a major market team, they would take Phillips back as a salary dump, in exchange for giving up less prospects in return. The Reds would jump at the offer to rid themselves of his contact.

Plug Phillips in at 2B, and then turn around and trade Murphy for a prospect or two.

That is what teams in big markets like New York do.

WFAN was reporting deal falling through due to drum roll please............ FINANCES.
Calling it now, Will Venable will be the guy.

Good news is commissioner supposedly going to talk to Mets about what happened with Gomez deal. One thing to screw over own fan base, but now Wilpon's cheapness affecting other people.

I would trade Colon for a bag of balls. Same for Cuddyer. We have these old guys making 8 figures and cant pay a player like J Bruce 12 million for next year and the year following? Boggles my mind.

The sad thing is that everyone else is smart enough not to take on their contracts!

What is Lagares' contract status and is it in Mets' interest to sign him for long enough to carry him past TJ surgery? What is the history of non-pitchers' with TJ surgery? Is Leuwenhuis enough of a CF to hold the fort for a season?

I'll try to answer all your questions in one reply: Lagares got an extension at the beginning of this season so hes with us for 2 more yrs i believe. Non pitcher TJ surgeries are pretty uncommon but the recovery time is a lot shorter but the throwing arm may not heal as quickly. Neuwenhuis is not an everyday CF and is best served as the 4th OF as he can play all 3 positions and is stellar defensively.
