Mets

And this is why we will continue to suck! This is truly an embarrassment to the entire organization.

For starters, as other posters have stated, why did Flores go back into the game? There is really no explanation for that...

And then trade was called off due to Carlos Gomez's hip? Why wasn't his medical condition looked at before a trade was announced? It makes it sound like this trade was made on the assumption that he was healthy. Well we all know what happens when you assume things....and the Mets certainly became the @$$ of the situation.

Finally, what message does that send to Flores and Wheeler? Now they are expected to go play for a team that agreed to get rid of them and kick them to the curb.....

I'm sort of glad this trade didn't go through. If you look at the difference between flores and gomez this year, the #'s are pretty similar. Gomez is batting .262 with 8 homers. This deal would have been excellent for next season, but something tells me the Mets were right to pull the plug because he is not 100% this year.

Hope they can still make a trade for Cespedes or Puig perhaps

You made so many good points, except for the unfortunate part that you are completely wrong.

The Mets backed out because of the Gomez medical reports. The Mets did not announce a trade. It was reported by Joel Sherman, and the Brewers and Gomez were exchanging goodbye tweets. Met players saw them too. That is when all of the lazy sports reporters just went with the story.

Maybe that is why Alderson never told Collins about a trade (and by extension remove Flores from the game) because there wasn't a trade to be made.

The Brewers jumped on this because they probably saw a taker for Gomez. The Brewers could be leery of his hip as well, since they were willing to accept a trade for a pitcher 3-4 months removed from TJ surgery.

The message it sends to Wheeler and Flores is that this is a business, and unfortunately business supercedes loyalty (and that goes both ways).

Watching Flores cry humanized things a lot. It was impossible not to feel bad for the kid. His love for the team has moved him up the ladder of fan favorite for me.

I am one the last Met fans to defend this organization's decisions. Especially the Wilpons, who I find to be deplorable owners. But we must be fair when it calls for it.

I hope the mets are done for the trade season. He have nice pieces but we truly are a 16-17 team. Bring up a couple of the young kids over the next 2 years, hopefully get healthy and sign a couple of bats. They could be sitting in a great squad in 2 years. We need more than we can get in trades to win it all this year. Let this team fight like hell and try to make the playoffs. If they do great.

I didn't like the Terry Collins hire at the time
However, I think he has done a great job with the talent he was given
I think he will be the sacrificial lamb and be fired just before we are really good

And this is why we will continue to suck!

We would have sucked a lot more if we got Carlos Gomez and had to put him on the DL.

Gomez is fine, Wilpon's did not want to pay off Gomez salary for next year and a half. Story now is Wilpon's were ok with Lagares in deal becuase his contract would offset some of Gomez contract. When Brewers asked for Flores who makes no $ Wilpon's said NO.

Ehhh, seems like an awfully easy story to make up for Boras to protect a client and for the Brewers to retain value for a player they clearly want to trade.

What you don't believe Wilpon's cheap / poor?
Bet they don't make another trade. Supposedly only talking $9 mill that they balked at.

I am sorry to tell you this, but I am right.

Maybe the Mets didn't 'officially' announce that a trade was made, but that doesn't change the fact that this deal was set in place, and that this trade was agreed upon by both teams. The fact that the Brewers players were tweeting about it and saying their goodbyes further supports that idea. Do you think an owner is going to tell a player that he is traded if nothing is for certain yet? The only other explanation is that their was massive miscommunication, and the Brewers believed the trade to be done and the Mets did not, and that seems highly unlikely.

If the Brewers seemed leery of Gomez's hip, they certainly did not show it. He has played in every one of their past 10 games, including a pinch hit appearance. You would think that if they were worried about his health, they would give him alot more rest, and especially not ask him to play on his day off. I'm guessing they were more leery of his salary than anything else.

At the end of the day, it is a business. And I think that Wheeler and Flores both understand that. But would you want to go back to work for a company that fired you 24hrs ago, but due to a glitch in the system, had to keep you?

And like you said, it was obvious that Flores loves this organization, but now he has to if the organization loves him back.

Nice win today(hopefully not jinxing it). It's easy to look ahead at the next series so 2-1 against the Pads is a nice series

A little confident aren't we?

I kind of hope the Mets lose now...

you are easily the biggest wet blanket in the history of sports fandom.

Rooting for a team (i presume you like) to lose in order to put another person down? Doesn't seem wrong at all.
That's jumbo's thing.. just ignore.

7-1 I thought we were good to go! But jumbo decided to use his evil powers to propel the Pads

C'mon, a real Mets fan knows that in the last 24 hours, we've racked up about half a dozen self-inflicted gunshot wounds or something in a variety of ways, on many levels.

:)
