Mets

VERY early but how has keeping Harvey and letting Murphy go worked out so far?

Still early but not quite as early so how has keeping Harvey and letting Murphy go worked out so far?
What does keeping Harvey have to do with letting Murphy go? The money needed went into getting Cespedes and that guy hasn't been half bad.

Was not connecting the two; just thought it was two moves the Mets should have made and was pretty soundly disagreed with; really just "poking in the eye" for fun if you will. Loved Murphy; thought Harvey was ordained well before he really did anything substantial and I don't like "me" players in general. I mean the guy has/had tremendous stuff but has really done little in relative terms but many on here talked about him as if he was a superstar. Of course I never thought he would fall the way he has but I just never liked him. Nor for the record did I dream Murphy would have the year he is having.
Loved Murph, sad to see him go, but he wanted a multi-year deal. Money is going to the pitching (and Cespedes). They have a better defensive player in Walker, and Dilson Herrera is hitting .283 with 8 apple-raisers in Sin City.

Harvey still hitting high 90's on the gun, he will get it worked out. The reason Met fans love him is because of attitude. Met fans were still moping about falling short in 2006, and collapses in 2007 and 2008, and he was like "I'm here to win". Yes, his W/L record is not impressive, but if he had gotten some run support in his first two seasons everyone might have a more positive outlook about him.

Back in First Place! Read in the Post that 86' reserve Danny Heep has been the baseball coach since 1998 for our friends at Incarnate Word. Big night tomorrow.

Syndergaard ejected for throwing at (and missing) Utley. Do you guys want to borrow Rougie Odor from Texas for a game or two? He would put Utley in his place PDQ,

The story played out horribly. Utley gets protected and then inflicts damage as if he was a 27 year old all star again.

BUT...

Syndergaard took a huge leap forward in my mind as a quiet leader of the Mets. 7 minutes or 7 months later, he was going to remind Utley that he didn't forget. Yea, getting tossed potentially cost us a game. But the notice is clear - the WS game vs. KC was not an aberration - Thor has his teammates back, and I wouldn't be shocked if they all play their asses off behind him from this point forward. He is a throwback, and with his immense talent more than any other Met, I'd want him on my team.

Yes he is a throwback, but he should have hit him in the thigh. Players use to get hit, not thrown at 11/2 ft behind them. Getting hit is what sends the message, and is worth getting ejected for.

Or in the back A 100 mph heater leaves a really nice mark, sometimes even the imprint of the ball

I agree he should have plucked him in the thigh but that's what made the umpire's reaction that much more ridiculous.
Syndegaard went out of his way to miss him.

Eric Campbell is like a Kramer situation right? I mean he wandered into Met clubhouse one day and grabbed a uniform and they keep letting him play because he isn't getting paid. No other explanation I can come up with.

Terry won't make it past this season. I wouldn't be surprised if he's canned mid-year. That's a prediction of what's to come. If he stays I can also guarantee this team will never win a WS with him at the helm. Once he's gone the championship will come.

At the time of this post:
The Mets were in 2nd place, 1 game out of first
The Mets are the wildcard leader
Mets' starting catcher and first baseman on the DL
Mets' starting third baseman wracked with injuries
Staring pitching, except for Harvey, has exceeded expectations (fast-forward 18 hours please)
Bullpen has been outstanding except for recent rough patch by Familia

Only way Collins gets let go is if there is an epic collapse

It doesn't matter where the team is in the standings. We should be in the playoffs. That lineup was atrocious yesterday. 5-9 didn't hit above .200 and we managed to win.

But that doesn't change the fact that I think Terry is a hairless nutsack. Was at game 5 last year and he let Harvey and the entire crowd run right over him. As soon as I saw Harvey run out of the dugout I knew we were cooked. Good guy, mediocre manager.

I was previously just guessing/assuming that this is where your hatred and frustration lies, and low and behold I was right. Let it go. He made the right decision then. You give the ball to your ace in that position. Let it go.

That is just the beginning of why I don't care for him as a manager. I have said it for years he will never wins a WS. And that the second he is let go we can be taken seriously. Also, when has Harvey ever been the ace of this team? I'll tell you what, I will "let it go" once you stop being a malaka.

Eric Campbell finally sent to minors. I would have suggested stabbing him in the brain like they do in Walking Dead to ensure he never comes back. But I guess this will have to do.

Ela ela ela. Team was out of playoffs for most of the season and then turn it around and make it to the WS. Why not wait till the outcome of this year to dismiss him?
