Not a terrible idea and I am no Pete Alonso lover. That lineup would be ok but a lot of unknowns with a questionable pitching staff.
They’ve shown no interest in Arenado because of the money owed and the clear decline in his hard hit rate and power.
I wouldn’t hate it as the defense might actually improve.
Your lineup doesn’t have a CF. Winker/Marte are DH split. So add the weak bat of Taylor and super weak bat of Siri.
I assume Acuna is 2B? McNeil is playing somewhere so…remember unless they trade him he has a long term deal. He hit .238 last season and they have been unable to move Marte or McNeil according to reports.
Personally can’t stand McNeil. Fine with him as a utility guy but nothing more. I believe they can get out of his deal in 2 years.
You are right about CF though it would have to be Taylor which definitely weakens the lineup.
Maybe issues with Nimmo still having foot problems with planters fasciitis (spelling?). he is still not able to run full out. Winker resigning looks better now.
Arenado has no power left. Unlike Pete, that is truly a player in decline.
I don’t think Vientos is a lock to replicate last year and struggling and maybe even getting sent back to AAA are possible without protection. I think signing Pete and slotting Vientos #2 virtually guarantees him 35+ homers and makes our lineup #1.
I think Siri plays over Taylor…better glove, more speed, better arm, and more power. He’ll bat 9th and hit around .210 with a bunch of homers.
I think Baty has some real potential to skyrocket even though he’s been incredibly disappointing. I’ll point again to Vientos having 212 AAA games under his belt before taking off last year. Baty had 32 total AAA games coming to last season! And he didn’t play any minor league games in 2020 because of Covid. He just turned 25 and picked up 62 AAA games last year to work on his swing.

I haven't given up on Baty either. But he should start the season in AAA and then we'll see where he is come May or so.
Even if Pete weren't a homegrown good guy, I'd be pushing for us to sign him to a reasonable contract. He makes the most sense.
So much goes into making a trade work especially at this time of year that I don't buy that Vlad Jr is ours for the taking.
Plus if Pete does indeed sign elsewhere, we are in a weak position when it comes to trades. Teams know our need and will use it to get a ton in return.
Best case scenario is we sign Pete and we give Baty, Mauricio, and maybe Acuna 30 games in AAA.
I’d be more inclined to start Acuna with the big club than the other two since he can contribute with his wheels and glove even if he’s not hitting well.

Now we desperately need a tracking shot of Pete leading his wife through the Shake Shack kitchen and somehow ending up on the field.
Gotta think they still got one more thing up their sleeve. The lineup is a lot of hopes. Hope Vientos hits the same. Hope Acuna hits. Hope that Winker hits 20. Hope Alvarez shows why he was the #1 prospect. Hope that Baty brings something to the table.

He'd be first base unless one of the young kids absolutely blew up and forced their way into the lineup.
I didn’t mean with us. If he goes elsewhere it is looking more and more likely as a DH.
Stanek reportedly returning on a 1 yr deal
He was awful in the regular season, but he was one of 3 guys I trusted in the playoffs. He has a 2.89 career playoff ERA. Glad to have him back.
