They are trying Baty at second base now hoping he can become a cheaper McNeil-like utility man.That’s the difference. We don’t have the top of the lineup to support a .200 defense-first catcher and third baseman not hitting like Baty.
If McNeil can get back to even 85% of what he was, that would help so much.
Alvarez has an attitude and energy that is infectious.
Of course Baty has not hit much in the majors, but maybe if he doesn’t have pressure of having to hit to keep his 3B job will allow him to breathe.
