Down by 1-0. Wheeler gone. You have a chance to steal this
Gotta keep them right here though.Down by 1-0. Wheeler gone. You have a chance to steal this
Disagree 100%, these are professionals who have played countless games with inconsistent home plate umpires. They have taken one horrible at bat after another, they have no one to blame but themselves. They have hit exactly one hard ball all game, Lindor’s line drive in the 1st inning. It's true, but when you have an ump call a totally out-of-whack game, like that called strike against Taylor, it's really hard for me to blame them.
When you're a professional hitter, you're protecting the strike zone. If the zone is unpredictable, you don't know what you're protecting. That's what leads to swings out of the zone. There's been so many pitches that were a few inches off the plate that were called a strike, and then others that weren't.Disagree 100%, these are professionals who have played countless games with inconsistent home plate umpires. The good news, they are still right in the game and Wheeler is out. He got some help from the ump and an awful lot from the Mets but he pitched a great game.
You guys want me to throw out any other dogshit takes? I said this about VientosPlayoff run is a good experience for the guy early in his career, but I am really starting to wonder how helpful he is going to be for this series

Wheeler is incredible and deserves the credit. But it also makes the job that much tougher for the hitters.
No, when you are a professional hitter you adjust to how the ump is calling the game. You don’t blame swinging at bad pitches consistently on the umpire. One has nothing to do with the other. Hitting at this level is completely and utterly about adjusting, it is not formulaic. When you're a professional hitter, you're protecting the strike zone. Never believed in those theories that you have to hate your cross town rival. New York is New York. I actually grew up just off Northern Blvd in flushing so most of my buddies were Mets fans.Michael Kay would not want to hear that!
