Mets 2024 Season

It's true, but when you have an ump call a totally out-of-whack game, like that called strike against Taylor, it's really hard for me to blame them.
Disagree 100%, these are professionals who have played countless games with inconsistent home plate umpires. They have taken one horrible at bat after another, they have no one to blame but themselves. They have hit exactly one hard ball all game, Lindor’s line drive in the 1st inning.
The good news, they are still right in the game and Wheeler is out. He got some help from the ump and an awful lot from the Mets but he pitched a great game.

When you're a professional hitter, you're protecting the strike zone. If the zone is unpredictable, you don't know what you're protecting. That's what leads to swings out of the zone. There's been so many pitches that were a few inches off the plate that were called a strike, and then others that weren't.

Wheeler is incredible and deserves the credit. But it also makes the job that much tougher for the hitters.

No, when you are a professional hitter you adjust to how the ump is calling the game. You don’t blame swinging at bad pitches consistently on the umpire. One has nothing to do with the other. Hitting at this level is completely and utterly about adjusting, it is not formulaic.

There's nothing to adjust to if it's inconsistent.

Grear curve with 2 strikes on Schwarber. Reminds me what Wainright did to Beltran in 2006 to end it.

Mendoza going back to Maton is gutsy showing his confidence in him.
