Mets 2024 Season

Up a run, bottom 7, 2-2 count on a guy with 17at bats so Garrett and Alvarez throw a back door slider that missed by 6 inches, throw a fastball that is knocked off the wall. Mets lose a 4-0 lead afraid ONCE AGAIN to go after a hitter. I keep watching but absolutely HATE modern baseball.

So an easy post to refute considering the Mets 2nd half and their latest surge but another frustrating golden opportunity lost today, up 4-0, 4-1 after 5, and get out scored 5-0 over the last 3 1/2 innings with the bullpen pissing away a one run lead giving up 3 runs in their 2 innings. Just reinforces “the same old, same old, we should just be ecstatic playing meaningful September games” Met fan mantra!

Need a return to form from Peterson after Toronto loss; hopefully being on 5 day schedule rather than 7 before the Jays will do trick.

Peterson has been good this year for the most part. However, his career suggests we should expect the unexpected. I’ll keep my fingers and every other part of my body crossed.

Good News: Lindor back in the lineup.

Bad News: Starling Marte OUT after HBP yesterday. X-rays however were negative.

And the Mets keep to the script, losing another lead late, Phillies with runs in the 8th and 9th to win 2-1.

Either Lindor stupidly tried to play through a bad back or the Mets were stupid for allowing him to try. He missed yesterday and it seems he might have made it worse by trying to play today. Yes this game was really important but he already missed yesterday. Unless he was feeling almost 100% why risk it here? Just a bad decision all around.

Players play, I don’t disagree it may turn out bad but players play. My opinion is that the reason he tried to play is the same reason he became a great player; I’m sure he legitimately thought he could go. Stupid has nothing to do with it, again just my opinion.
There are others here with the credentials to know far more than me, but my personal experiences with backs, mine and others, is that that they are nigh on impossible to predict.

I’m never gonna call a guy stupid for trying to play a mid September game when we’re tied for the last playoff spot

Sometimes you don’t know what your body can take until you’re out there playing.

Unfortunate the way it played out. We need him and he knows it that’s why he tried to go today

Much needed win although every one is now but especially tonight

Somewhere in this thread I predicted we had enough bats and pitches to go .500 while looking good at times and bad at others. That was a pretty accurate guess, but nit looks like they have out surpassed my expectations and every win from here is a positive. Hope they do enough to pull out a playoff run on what was supposed to be a rebuild year.

Rebuild year? Outside of Vientos, the Mets haven’t played any “new” players. Certainly no other young ones. With the years Nimmo, Alonso, McNeil and Alvarez have had and the overall failure of the entire bullpen, this year goes down as a huge disappointment to me if they don’t make the playoffs.
