Max Hooper

personally, i like his size and his shot, but from the videos i saw his release looked slow. Im sure Lav and the staff know more than all of us, so i will stand by the words of...." In Lav We Trust" go johnnies !!

Others have posted his release is quick.
Which is it?

So i did some comparative analysis. I watched film on Kevin Love, Chris Mullin and Reggie Miller. I thought he had a quick release and he isn't too far off what I saw from Kevin Love, but Chris and Reggie make him look a bit slow. I never realized how quick Chris's release was. AND just so we don't start some crazy mess as we did when I said Heath Orvis yesterday, I am not saying he is in the same league as Chris, Reggie or Kevin. I was just looking at the release time. I'd have to put it at average now that I have seen these others.

.
Certain players just have a knack getting there shot off Remember Mullin was to slow and could jump(not comparing the talent) only the principle.

Average release - compared to two of the greatest shooters of their era?

He's certainly not Mullen, but he'll get his shot off in the BE if he comes off screens or as a trailer on the beak. I wouldn't expect him to take guys off the dribble.

At the college level guys like Novak and J.J. Reddick are valuable. He would be effective like them. The only thing that concerns me is the current roster is full of super quick players. Will he fit in? Yes, as shooter off the bench.

Maybe this was answered in an earlier post, but why didn't Hooper get in more than two games for Harvard? I watch the clips and see a dead-on shooter that runs like he has a broken pelvis. I'm very skeptical. Maybe St John's offered Hooper an opportunity to walk on—not a scholarship.

Chris was slow but amazingly, and i say this because Chris, Walter and Willie were my idols in the heart of my teenage years and i should know this, Chris's release made up for his lack of foot speed. I watched about ten minutes of some Golden State footage and i had numerous times where i thought he'd get rejected and the defender just couldn't react faster than Chris.

And i agree if they can run some nice screens for max he will get his shots off or at least stretch the zones being played against us.

Oakland is the latest to offer Harvard transfer Max Hooper, per his coach. St. John's has also offered.

Didn't read all the posts in this thread so this may have been addressed, but what about the impact his lack of foot speed will have in our zone D?

Smart player, he'd find a way to make it work

I checked with some people and it's divided!!! One person I trust very much said he will be here!

Gotta think that if we offered he'd be all over it with us being most likely a bigger school then others after him plus with Jakarr & D-Lo on the team

Zags is saying he also visited this week

I heard the same last night. There is a chance he could walk-on and be in line for a scholarship down the road. Similiar to Jon Wallace when he walked-on to Georgetown after being accepted to Princeton (later received a scholarship), but followed JT3 when he became the head coach for the Hoyas.
