The game winner in Cameroon indoor stadium.Let me throw Anthony Glover into the mix. He's still one of my all time favorite SJU players. One of the toughest, hard-nosed players ever at SJU.
Do they still join him if we get a top notch coach here?I sense four other guys join him. But if we get a top-notch coach in here, I think three talented locally(ish)-raised kids portal toward us. Ball is in Shanley's court. . .
NCJ Cragg's only saving grace was that the extension/buyout does not fall soley on him. Shanley and the BOT also signed off on it. Having said that, there is no way to justify or sugarcoat that horrendous(for SJU) financial agreement. It was a horrible deal at the time(I said so then) and it's an even worse deal now. There's lots of details most of us aren't privy to, but to me the big gaffe was not necessarily the extension but not incorporating a very reasonable buyout if you are going to do an extension after that good second year when most were optimistic where things were going. Hopefully they learned a hard lesson from that mistake. Get it right this time. The team has talent, just needs direction.
Agree completely Paultz. Great game today, but let's not get carried away now.He really is a top 8 rotation guy on most BE teams, but not a prime time guy. Only at SJ would he be handling the ball like a PG so often, really unfair to him. He battled today and has had his moments this year, but on any of the solid BE teams he would not be a lead guard w a lot of minutes.
Let's be real Mike; the admin don't give an F about us, the staff don't give an F about us and the players don't give an F about us. Yet we still live and die with this program. What's wrong with this picture???Kids deserved better this year the fans deserved better. Now let's get a win on wednesday and not make it our last game
Two-way street: Thanks to the portal, a top-notch coach barely has to deal with the previous guy's mistakes.Do they still join him if we get a top notch coach here?
What else do I have to root for ? I already live vicariously through you in your soft porn videos the stock market sucked last year what else I got other than sweating though the upper deck at carnesecca trying to lose 20 pandemic poundsLet's be real Mike; the admin don't give an F about us, the staff don't give an F about us and the players don't give an F about us. They don't, and everyone who continues to go and support and pay tickets is telling them that it's ok.Let's be real Mike; the admin don't give an F about us, the staff don't give an F about us and the players don't give an F about us. Sorry Monte most here did not think the extension was such a horrible deal at the time, it’s the kind of thing that happens when you are voted coach of the year by your peers. The overwhelming sentiment was we were going in the right direction. Sure hindsight is always 20/20 but 75 percent of posters here were very happy with CMA after year 2. To be fair I think I said this before I was happy with the hire and I would have given him extension and that's why I manage money and not athletic programs so I can second guess things I would have done. That's why I dont fault Cragg except for rumors of high buyout because other than that I'd have done the sameSorry Monte most here did not think the extension was such a horrible deal at the time, it’s the kind of thing that happens when you are voted coach of the year by your peers. The team is a nice distraction from life for us fans, but let’s not kid ourselves, the players put a whole lot more of their sweat and tears into this than we do. I’ll always root for these guys and some years it will work out, some years it won’t.
some years it will work out? Not a single NCAA Tournament win in 23 years.Sorry Monte most here did not think the extension was such a horrible deal at the time, it’s the kind of thing that happens when you are voted coach of the year by your peers. Yeah, I was happy with Lavin's hire, Mullin's hire, CMA hire after finding out he never had a losing season, all 3 didn't work out.Got fooled with our last 3 hires, I won't allow myself to be fooled again, gotta live and learn. To be fair I think I said this before I was happy with the hire and I would have given him extension and that's why I manage money and not athletic programs so I can second guess things I would have done. Plus Cragg got me beer in Carnesecca so to be again fair I want a statue of him next to Looie

There is no basis for that statement.A team with a little structure to the offense would have worked well for Jones.
What I liked most about it was that Omar played close to the basket and got the majority of his points in the paint. Marquette had no strong shot blocking presence and we took it to the basket hard and made points in the paint. Something we rarely do. With the right coaching Omar can be a valuable piece the next two seasons.CMA played Stanley 33 minutes in this game and Omar rewarded him with 15pts/8Reb. Here's a post from January that many on the board agreed with. Why we completely wasted his sophomore year is beyond me.

NCJ it's not hindsight when I felt that way back then and have continued to feel that way since then. .
