Anderson finally benched someone, in game, for crappy play, and almost everybody here thought it was a bad move. I don't get it. Storr was beyond awful today and made it known by the backcourt play that he had no interest in participating today. This should have been the norm the last few years. Make stupid plays win stupid prizes.

NCJ Cragg's only saving grace was that the extension/buyout does not fall soley on him. Shanley and the BOT also signed off on it. Having said that, there is no way to justify or sugarcoat that horrendous(for SJU) financial agreement. It was a horrible deal at the time(I said so then) and it's an even worse deal now.

They don't, and everyone who continues to go and support and pay tickets is telling them that it's ok.

Sorry Monte most here did not think the extension was such a horrible deal at the time, it’s the kind of thing that happens when you are voted coach of the year by your peers. The overwhelming sentiment was we were going in the right direction. Sure hindsight is always 20/20 but 75 percent of posters here were very happy with CMA after year 2. The extension itself was not outrageous, not putting in a reasonable buyout was.
The team is a nice distraction from life for us fans, but let’s not kid ourselves, the players put a whole lot more of their sweat and tears into this than we do. I’ll always root for these guys and some years it will work out, some years it won’t.

To be fair I think I said this before I was happy with the hire and I would have given him extension and that's why I manage money and not athletic programs so I can second guess things I would have done. That's why I dont fault Cragg except for rumors of high buyout because other than that I'd have done the same

Plus Cragg got me beer in Carnesecca so to be again fair I want a statue of him next to Looie

some years it will work out? Not a single NCAA Tournament win in 23 years.
That's really hard for me to say: "some years it will work out."

Yeah, I was happy with Lavin's hire, Mullin's hire, CMA hire after finding out he never had a losing season, all 3 didn't work out.Got fooled with our last 3 hires, I won't allow myself to be fooled again, gotta live and learn.

That's why I'll only by happy with a proven winning, a true winner.

Going on a much needed vacation, hopefully there's a new coach when I get back non Friday.

What I liked most about it was that Omar played close to the basket and got the majority of his points in the paint. Marquette had no strong shot blocking presence and we took it to the basket hard and made points in the paint. Something we rarely do. With the right coaching Omar can be a valuable piece the next two seasons.

NCJ it's not hindsight when I felt that way back then and have continued to feel that way since then. . And not to be arquementative( as you would say 😉), how can you emphatically say that it was not a " horrible deal" when we don't even know the terms of the deal?
 
I did not see the game. Just trying to figure out how a team shoots over 50% from the field, 50% from 3, and 89% from the line, and loses. That may be a first in college basketball. Must have been the turnover differential. Teams that don't value the ball don't value winning.
