LJ in Transfer Portal?

Mo we will do ok without him. Think he was just a slightly above average player in our confr Think Cole will make our memory of LJ fade

Guessing the coaches would want him back for the depth and 'W' factor, but not sure since CMA may not be a fan of Figgy's wavering behavior the past 2 years.
The players may have a different view.
There's a lot to be said of team cohesion and if LJ returned how would he impact that spirit?
I do not know the answer.
I'm neutral and think there's a chance we pick a solid transfer or maybe even a kid reclassifying to 2020.

I've moved on. Nothing against LJ, but we don't need to wait any longer to see what he might do. Next.

I don't know what LJ was thinking a month ago or what he is thinking now but I do know that the NCAA in trying to prevent athletes from playing behind better players for their careers or seeing the coach that recruited them leave their school and forcing these athletes to sit out a year have created a situation that results in the situation LJ finds himself in.
By liberalizing the transfer process and allowing immediate eligibility in so many undeserving cases the NCAA has put the athlete under pressure from his advisors to continually look for a better route to,the NBA. It is never the athletes fault that he hasn't developed a game suitable for the pros , it is either lack of opportunity at his current school or his.current coaching staff's inability to prepare him for the pros. There is always a better opportunity somewhere else and not having to sit out a year just makes it hard to resist.

I know people are upset at LJ but it would be a bit of a PR nightmare if CMA would turn away what seems to be a low maintenance model student, pre-season BE all team, an upper classman, and a player, faults and all, who won us games bc of his hustle.

People always forget context and will forget the whole transfer thing. They’ll only remember a school and coach that turned their back on a student athlete... and I guaranteed other coaches will use that against us.

CMA seems to be a guy that doesn’t hold grudges and looks at big picture. I don’t think he’d fault LJ for getting bad advice...

I’m sorry but a kid who entered the transfer portal twice in two years I would call anything but low maintenance.

Figueroa is a full grown man. Are we at a point in our culture where everything is the other guys fault?
Once you enter the portal it becomes about YOU and not the team. Best of luck to him. He's going to need a lot of it.

Again, we’re sure the decision to enter the portal officially wasn’t a mutual decision? As in, if you’re going to take this long to decide we need to be able to fill your spot. If you decide later you want to come back, no promises but we’ll discuss it if it happens.

Get over yourselves. Let a college kid and his coach make that choice if it comes to it.

In hindsight, it might have been a bad knee jerk decision made by a 22 year old kid. While, as a senior citizen I didn't like it at all and criticized him for it, I can vividly recall making lots of dumb choices when I was 22, 32 and 42 (and later as well).

If he leaves, I wish him well, He was fun to watch and played with high energy and heart even when he took poorly advised shots. He is very talented and will positively impact any college roster.

If he comes back, I will welcome him with open arms and will root for him as much and as hard as I did throughout the past two seasons.I hope you will do as well. Remember, he's still a kid.

At what age will he not be considered a kid?

Agree with your thoughts Mark Redman, I turned 72 years old yesterday and am still learning, growing, and acquiring knowledge. I have made plenty of misguided choices in my life and had to own, then learn from them.

Wishing LJ the best wherever he ends up.

It is easy for us Redmen.comers to form damning opinions without knowing facts. The goal should not be to punish LJ but to assist next season’s StJohn’s team win more games without disrupting the team equilibrium of the returning players.

If LJ wants to return to StJohn’s then CMA should sit down and speak with him. If CMA, as head coach, comes to the conclusion that LJ can benefit the team by being a team player and not using the upcoming season as an audition for next years play in Europe then CMA should discuss it with the StJohn’s team members to solicit their input.

If CMA concludes that LJ can help next season’s team performance and the StJohn’s team members support his return then he should be reinstated.

If CMA after sitting down and speaking with LJ concludes that he would be disruptive, or the current players do not want him to return then CMA should not take him back.

Of course we allow him back

We all know if he returns and is helping us win games none of us will even care about this whole saga

I'm in no rush to welcome him back. I'm not saying I wouldn't, but I'd pass if even one player or member of the staff didn't want him back.

He's a good player, who would benefit from having more weapons around him so the offense doesn't need to go through him, but he's going to need everyone on the same page about bringing him back our you'll instantly create a rift in the locker room.

No matter what you think of LJ's process this year we have to believe that Coach knows what he's doing regarding the situation. Bottom line with me is whatever Coach decides works for me.

Yep,

If the coaching staff and the players welcome him back after all of this, us as fans have no reason to turn our nose up at it.

Forgive and forget, I guess

How many times does the hot girl have to tell you she doesn't want to date some of you before you stop buying her things?

I wish Figueroa the best. I also wish Coach Anderson would do the same.

This is not Figueroa's first time he has done this. There comes a time when you just need to cut the cord.

If your arguement is to treat Figueroa "fairly" and give him time, because he is just a kid, conversely, the more unfairly you treat the rest of the team, who are also just kids. And they have put in the time and commitment to the program.

My preference is to root for those kids, and move on.
