LJ in Transfer Portal?
I have no insight on this, but was told that someone in the program said LJ wants to come back. Take it with a grain of salt but it's floating out there.
He must really want to avenge Dunn winning SJU player of the year award

The concern if he comes back is that he may have lost the confidence of his teammates.

If true, CMA should put it to a team vote.

I always get a sense that these kids get really bad advice.

I also sensed this bridge was burned.

If true, would love to see LJ come back but that is up to him and Coach Anderson.

I am glad that the decisions I made, did not make, and changed as a 22 year old did not take place in public.

Looks like some conflicting reports.

I obviously don't know what's going on behind the scenes, but I'd assume if LJ wants to come back (big "IF") then the staff would let him. Seems really tough to let a pre-season All-Big East 1st Team member walk...

Given our many options at the wing position, if a young big with a lot of upside is with the team during Toro's lone year here, it would make it much less difficult for me to tolerate LJ's absence.

Couldn't agree more, I'd trade resigning LJ for signing a frosh big who's a project with lots of upside in a second. Unfortunately we have trouble signing those kind of guys in the normal recruiting cycle so have very little hope of finding one at this late stage.

Agree with both of you but that was in the past. CMA has clearly shown that he knows what we need and has gone out and filled the holes as well as he could be expected to.
We now have an all hands on deck approach as opposed to the recruiting efforts, or lack thereof, of past staff members, including some head coaches. I anticipate that our success in signing the elusive big man will end much sooner than later. Hard work, while no guarantee, usually results in success, this staff clearly works hard, all the time.

I can't see them turning him down if it's true but I wonder if they should. I wouldn't just want a guy back (who has done this 2 years in a row) because he's realizing that he may not get a waiver and wants to come back to play himself into the draft. I'm a big fan but he already took too many shots last year. Take his green light away. He plays better within the flow of the game anyway. If they readjust his offensive role and his teammates are truly comfortable with it then this would seem like a very positive thing. That being said, I will not count on this happening.

Where are you guys getting that Figueroa is open to coming back? Is this based on the drivel that Phavre fan posted on Twitter? I certainly hope not. The guy makes stuff up.

I was only going by reading this thread. That's just me sharing my opinion on if he were to hypothetically come back.

I think Billy Don Ferrell said he was told "...that someone in the program said LJ wanted to come back...". And the rest is history.

Would the players vote to bring him back in if he wanted to come back?

I'd tell him he's coming off the bench if he wants back in. Williams and Dunn haven't jerked us around.

If LJ has to sit in a restorative justice circle where everyone speaks after being passed a rainstick, then I think he's back. Secret ballot, and I think he's toast.
