Knicks

Don’t understand- achuiwa was a free agent.
Why was there a “no-trade” clause to waive ?
- researched my own question, on 1 year contract, something about bird rights would allow him to refuse trade.

and they still have a mid-level exception avail !!

Nice move by Knicks & great that Precious agreed to the deal. With Robinson, Achiuwa and Randle, Knicks are fine at the 5 so long as Mitch doesn't miss half the season.
Randle is a 4. Achiuwa & sims are the size of most 4s.
I’d really like to pick up a big backup 5 with the mid-level exception.

Have biyombo, Tristan Thompson or yurtseven signed anywhere yet ?

There was rumored interest in Bertans. I wouldn't even mind McDermott

Former lottery pick who's dealt with injuries but known to be a defensive specialist. Only 25. Exhibit 10 deal, meaning its a training camp invite that can convert to a two-way deal (aka, play in the G League but eligible to shuttle back and forth) or non-guaranteed minimum deal with NY.

Marginal, but love it. Depth at all levels of the franchise was an issue last year.

First two years with Magic were pretty good. Not sure if falloff last two years was due to injuries or Magic getting better or combination of the two but definitely worth a look.

Not a lottery pick at 16 but agree worth taking a shot. Knick front office has pretty good track record with their acquisitions.

I know summer league isn't the NBA, but Kolek didn't look like a second round player.

Love to see him as the primary backup PG. Slide everyone down.

Duece to the backup 2, Dante to the 3, Hart to the 4 (where he has more impact anyway), and then Mitch gets Precious as the backup along with our rook and Sims.

Kolek excelling changes our entire depth chart. He looked great, high technical ability, high BB IQ.

There’s small ball and there’s miniature ball. Maybe alongside Dante at the 3 and Hart at the 4 we can get Muggsy Bogues to play center. 🤪

Sims is injury free for first time in two years. I expect to see Deuce & Dante in second string backcourt along with Hart at 3, Precious at 4 with Sims getting some backup 5 minutes. But also expect to see a fair amount of Randle at 5 and Anunoby at 4 against some teams with Brunson, Bridges, Donte & Hart getting lots of minutes. Don't expect to see too much of Kolek in year 1 but who knows.

this is the 'realistic' take... but if / when we do see him... if we surround him with the right shooters... I don't feel there will be that big of drop in play with him manning the point.

We've watched ( dare I say cook us) for 3 years... its real nice having that type of bball IQ out on our team now
