Knicks

OG allows the team to spread the floor and gives Randle and especially Brunson space. RJ did not do that.

Also, having a 3 and D wing with length balances the first team. They need a backup PG, and another trade should follow. I liked Quickly, but he was not going to resign here. He wanted to start and that was not happening with Brunson obviously.
I like the OG for RJ switch. Just think the Knicks way overpaid giving up Quickley. Not only he is a great teammate, but he is the kind of two way threat off the bench that they'll have a lot of difficulty replacing. Don't buy that he wouldn't have been happy as super 6th man off the bench; he seemed shocked and very disappointed by the trade.

He's a better player than both Donte & Grimes imho. Hope I am wrong but don't think so.

I liked Quuckly too, but he was going to leave at the wand if the year. He wants to start.

Disagree but maybe you know something I don't. He seemed very happy as sixth man to me. Really not sure he's a starter for a top tier team. In any event, I don't think Knicks got equal value for what they gave up, but bookmark for next year and hope I am proven wrong,

With Toronto he will get a chance to play as they are not happy with Dennis Schroeder. Someone has to try to fill Van Fleets shoes. Quigly is young and should be given a chance to grow and work through his mistakes.

and he wants to get paid!

I really liked Quickley but its easier to find offense in the NBA then a great defender. In the long run I think it was a good trade.

But Quickley is an excellent defender. Again, no problem giving up former #3 pick Barrett for Anunoby; just don’t believe Barrett and Quickley for Anunoby and little else is fair value.

Anunoby is an incredible role player. This team (at least the first unit) is actually a lot of fun to watch
He fits in very well with the team. It was why I liked the trade. The Knicks did not have a 3&D wing with length. Opens up space for Brunson and Randal.

Backup PG is an issue now, but I think the Knicks will make another trade for that piece.

Cannot stress enough how perfectly OG fits. This is a different team with with him.

His perimeter defense is terrific and was needed badly, while creating spacing on offense which benefits Brunson and Randal.

If Brunson stays with the Knicks for the rest of his career and continues to play like this he will probably go down as my favorite professional NY athlete ever

Edit: funny this got me thinking, who has that title for me now?

- Born in 97
- Not a yankee fan so that removes Jeter, Judge etc.
- Not a giants fan so that removes Eli
- Knicks best player in my lifetime: Probably Carmelo? Eh
- Best Jets player in my lifetime: Probably Curtis Martin or Revis who are up there for me for sure
- Best Rangers player in my lifetime: King Henrik probably holds the title right now
- Best Mets player in my lifetime: Jacob DeGrom but that one leaves a bad taste in my mouth now

Its been kind of a tough go for having superstar athletes in the big city. Brunson is a breath of fresh air.
