Not sure what happened at RM

Well there's really only two options, either he was thrown off the team or he quit on his team.   I agree he left STJ without incident, and a coach that didn't recruit him.  But even if it was possible I doubt many if any teams would take him back again after whatever went down at RM.  If he had eligibility another change of scenery might be fine for him but as it stands I think he's getting his passport or his CV ready.
You actually thought that I was serious about us taking him back?

No, I'm pretty sure you understand how things work, just that your post was easiest to respond to and the one line I quoted showed either willful ignorance or naivete.

Technically, can he transfer w/o sit out for 2nd half since he's a grad student plus covid exemptions?

If so, Monte may be picking him up and driving him to Union Tpke.
I'd carry him on my back to campus if need be

Maybe if Smith bails he comes back? Would he be able to play this year?

I wouldn't touch him with a 10 foot pole. He had a very good situation here, then bailed after listening to someone who did not have his best interest at heart. He fell for the Bullshit that if he transferred back to the NEC, he could be Player of the Year and secure a good deal overseas.

Dunn abandoned his teammates and showed no appreciation for what the staff allowed him to do. Now, after going to a lower level Conference where he averaged 12 pts a game , shooting 39%, and 30% from 3, he bails again. Nah, no welcome mat being placed out for him.
Wow, interesting. Guess he thought he was Penske material.

Right, but let's just say that he left the team for very personal reasons. I'm just saying I'm not going to speculate or judge him based simply on the fact that he's no longer on the team. That's neither willful ignorance nor naïveté. It's called "waiting for all the facts to surface".

Couldn't agree more Monte. The older I've gotten the more I've come to believe it's rarely a bad idea to give people the benefit of the doubt.

You're both right.  I mean the kid's gotta be 24 or 25 by now.  Maybe he decided he just wanted to get on with life.  So he quit the team.

Or maybe he had a talk with the coach and hypothetically said "Coach things haven't gone as well as either of us expected this season. You have a few youngsters who are the future of the program. I'm gone after this season anyway.  How would you feel if I got a head start on my career,  and you gave them more PT in anticipation of next season?" That's purely conjecture on my part.  Point being, most of us have no idea what transpired between coach and player. This much I will say; Dunn gave 110% every second on the court for us. And was an exemplary representative of the school on and off the court.  So based on what I've seen, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and assume that he's not a quitter. Obviously you're free to assume what you wish.

I agree with you Monte
I wish Dunn had stayed at St John's for his last season
He would have been an important asset to our team

Is it just me, or does anyone else find it odd that on the current edition of Red Storm Report, they have an entire segment,  complete with a few minutes of highlights, dedicated to our beat down of Miss Valley State?

Every year I think same thing as they keep up stories from long ago.

For what it's worth, Dunn has been posting regret (on social media) about his decision since the very beginning of the season.  The regret seems to be about RM and not necessarily about leaving SJU.

Playing at a lower level has not yielded better results for him.  The team is 1-11, and while one man doesn't make a team, has to bear what part his play is responsible for that record.   I think this board's appraisal of Dunn was way overbown in any event.   He played a nice role here, it would have been nice to have him back, but it would still be a reach to suggest we win against either Indiana or Pitt with him in the lineup.

His college career is over. He has no more eligibility and played 4.5 seasons for 3 teams.    Hopefully he is close to or has earned a degree in the fall semester.   That would make sense if he is leaving school now.

Good luck to him. He was not a problem here and played above the expectations when he transferred here.

One of the most over-rated players on a board that routinely over-rates players. It's not how hard you play. It's how well you play when plaing hard.
