Posh Alexander is 1 of only 2 players in the country averaging at least:
15.5 points
5 assists
4.7 rebs
50% fg

He’s also 6th in the country in steals per game (2.6).

He’s somewhat quietly taken the next step as a player this year. The .50 fg% is even more impressive when you consider his perimeter struggles. Still plenty of room for improvement but you really can’t ask for more from a production standpoint. Also helps he’s about as easy a kid to root for as you’ll find.
There are many things he does that don't make the stats.  He often makes the pass that leads to an easy pass for a layup.  He is exceptional at immediately looking up in transition on a steal or rebound to throwing thread the needle passes to streaking teammates.   His double downs without losing his own man cause fits for opponents.   He also gladly gives the ball up to an open teammate on the break, and follows his teammates shots for putbacks. Then of course he is a block of steal that absorbs a ton of punishment when he mixes it up.   You're right - tons of room for improvement, and if the NBA draft were held today he would likely get overlooked, but he is one kid worth the price of admission who is a joy to watch.

If you have a kid and want to teach him basketball, save the money on basketball camp, bring him to a game and say, "Watch this guy."

Oh yea, and he keeps his mouth shut and doesn't complain to refs or trash talk opponents.

Posh and Champ will go down as two of the best players we’ve ever had.
I wish we had better pieces around them.

Julian is the only player in the country averaging at least:

20 points
7 boards
2 steals
39% from 3

So far:
21.2 ppg
7.2 rebs
2 steals
39.8 3fg%
Plus career best 1.9 assists and 1.3 blocks + career low 1.2 TOs and 1.5 fouls.

Guess you could say he’s been pretty good through 14 games.

Red Storm's win over Georgetown on Sunday averaged 2.02 million viewers. Third-best college hoops audience ever for Fox Sports.
No. 1: St. John's-Xavier: Jan. 5, 2020: 2.31 million
No. 2: Duke-St. John's: Jan. 25, 2015: 2.17 million

Obviously this was after an NFL game, but fact remains that St. John's is now part of all 3 of the most viewed Fox college hoops games. This is the importance of playing at MSG- no way Fox airs this game during that time slot if it's at CA.

Great post Adam and thank you so much for pointing that out. Hopefully someone on staff and in the marketing department reads your post and uses the info for recruiting purposes. I never would have dreamt those statistics in my wildest dreams. If two mediocre at best teams could draw such an audience I shudder to think how many would watch if we were a top 20 team.

Hatten was sensational in his time here.  What a great fit he would have been for 40 minutes of hell. When I'm down on the program, all I have to do to cheer up is watch this:

Marcus has made several overtures in the past 3-4 years in an attempt to join the staff in the player development area…he would have made a great addition IMO.

It's what happens when all of your fans stay home to watch on tv.

Love what Marcus Hatten had to say:
"Let’s rally behind our guys show them we with them good & bad We are all passionate about SJU let’s do our part & show the world who’s the best fans ever."

Always easy to support your team/coach when they're winning. Hopefully the fans turn out on Saturday; would be pretty embarrassing if Hall has more fans in MSG than we do.

What do you see as reason(s) it didn't happen but Zendon coming back did?

I was at that game as well. The attempted putback was by one of my all time favorite players, Anthony Glover. He came to games with his hardhat on and a lunch bucket. Nobody worked harder. Loved that kid.

This team needs an Anthony Glover badly.

Funny story re: Hatten

I was having drinks with a friend in Bay Ridge when Hatten was starring at SJ. In walks Slice and Ben Howland who were in the area to recruit Chris Taft from Xaverian to Pitt.

My buddy knew Slice from the neighborhood pickup games so we struck up a conversation with the 2 coaches. I asked Howland what he thought of Hatten. He was kind of a smart ass and said he had 3 guards better than him. I laughed at him and turned away from him.

Pitt was becoming a good team, at that time.  They didn't need Hatten.  If anything, he would have hurt that team, because he needed the ball in his hands to be effective.

Our team, at the time, didn't have much beyond Hatten, so him being ball dominant was probably our best chance to win.
