Jermaine Lawrence, PF (Cincinnati)

I really thought we had Lawrence considering beating CINCY in CINCY. But oh well, stay optimistic, better days will come.

No offense, but this has doesn't have much bearing when it comes to recruiting. I've said it doesn't on several occasions. I've seen things like this mentioned many times on message boards, and it doesn't hold much water. One particular game between two teams who both are battling for the same recruit isn't generally gonna sway him one way or the other.

I'm still optimistic, but I would love to add to legit pieces to next year's roster. I'm not sure that is gonna be the case.

Really? I think it does. If he hadn't made up his mind yet, watching a game of two teams that he is considering the most. Seeing us win on the road might make him think, "I want to play there." But I certainly see where you are coming from. When it comes to adding legit pieces, I am with you, and I think having GG back will give us a much needed boost on rebounding, and Hooper will give us an extra shot maker. Two things we need. We might still get Jordan as well.

You can have your opinion on it, but I have a hunch I've been following recruiting far longer than you, and many times it doesn't have any bearing on where the kid will attend school. It goes beyond one or two games between those two said schools. There can be several other factors being considered when kids are making decisions on where to attend college.

I think we need another big besides Gift. I don't care, even if it's just a lunchpail guy who does dirty work by getting boards and playing sound defense. We need another contributing big.

Well guys I know not getting him hurts, but we could still get Jordan. Plus, GodsGift will be back and do not forget Hooper. Nobody is going to NBA so we have all the guys we have now, plus a healed Branch, GG and Hooper, and maybe Rysheed. I really thought we had Lawrence considering beating CINCY in CINCY. But oh well, stay optimistic, better days will come.

Let's hope none of the current team decide to transfer.

The NCAA will probably rule Orlando eligible for next year and our problem will be solved. It usually works out that way for us...Like Seinfeld, we're "Even Steven" LOL

Wonder what plan"b" is?

Lavins recruting magic has seemed to fall off drastically..

Are you kidding?

LOL

It's called posting on emotion or aren't too bright.

It's the old but true win some lose some. At least our good fortune - very good at that - with Coach Lavin and the current program is that we will "win some" unlike the Roberts, Jarvis days - or have we forgotten how far and fast Steve Lavin has taken us.

Many posters here are better connected to the program or more astute with college basketball, but seems to me we have so much going for us now - and "only the shadow knows for sure" - from whence the next talented player might appear:
transfer
junior college
on the roster with a quantum leap in performance ala Jones
or a few inches in a growth sput
other paths...

all the best

Curious decision by Lawrence IMO...I know I'm not him and it's his decision but I'm very curious as to what could have tempted him that much from Cincy. They are going to be on the decline the next few years losing Wright and Kilpatrick, and another huge thing: they are stuck in a bad conference! I wonder if Cronin told Lawrence Cincy would be in the ACC soon enough. To leave a home team that is on the rapid climb and would peak when he would have been here for a team that is trending downward in the next few years really surprises me. Just goes to show that logic doesn't always win out. I think you have to be concerned when we can't even keep our can't miss prospects in our backyard.

They are in the same conference as us next year.
No guarantee he plays at Cincy beyond one year.

Gotta love the Adidas t-shirt he donned for the pic ;)

As a journalist, Zags shouldn't have gone on the twitter rampage he did.

Good luck to Jermaine. For Cincy's sake, here's hoping he pans out for them.

Guys not a troll but a legit Cincy fan that would like to ask a question.i'm also a huge reds fan and Amir Garrett is a pitcher in our minor league system. He has Big upside in baseball. Any info hinting he may be considering devoting full time to baseball. I've noticed his playing time Is down and he can make a lot of money as a left handed starting pitcher. Will he stay in school?

He's already making money from the Reds and they know school was part of the deal. Can he leave? Sure? But considering last year was the first time he pitched in like two years the innings limits might be an issue. He throws smoke but supposedly has no breaking stuff since he focused on basketball pretty much thru HS.

Thanks moose. It doesn't look like he has a NBA career in front of him. He did show promise though as you say in limited action. Could he be wasting developmental time playing hoops instead of devoting full time to baseball.

You do realize that he is going to classes and getting an education, right?

Pertaining to us landing Jermaine he really rounds out a nice class for us. Coach Cronin has done a nice job rebuilding program after the Huggins fiasco. I no Mick isn't a household coaching name yet but he is showing some great results for us after inheriting a mess. I guess we are even you guys landed Obekapa when it looked like he was headed to cincy. Mick does a nice job recruiting NY. Good luck finishing out the year.

He could still do that and play baseball as well.if he is serious about his education that is great. As a reds fan I just wanted to know if he was serious about baseball.

I don't think the Reds even think about asking him to leave until after next season the earliest, so from a St.J basketball perspective, we are safe.
