James Jones - Next Coach (oh boy)?

Fitting Stations of Cross analogy

Hard to have a more uninspiring hire. Pathetic job by all around.

If it is their guy (their final guy) are they even in a position where they could wait?

I hope to god they do wait and decide on a new offer. But if they are doing it regardless then just get it done. In fact would seem like sju to drop it right before Good Friday to try to mitigate media.

If this is the best Craig can do, by his own accord or forced upon him, then I don’t expect Cragg to be here to hire Jones replacement after 4 years of mediocrity.

i never thought i would contemplate not renewing season tickets as i love going to the games. This is depressing, but with this hire I would probably look into Knick or Net packages. Not saying 100% i wouldn't renew, but would definitely think about it. I remember back around 2005 when things were rough we said we'll hold on to our season tickets and the team will eventually be good again - I'm not sure that will happen though.

On the bright side if i renew I could be sitting courtside :)

Have to be fair, I’ve never seen this board so united, so there’s that.

Was watching 'Hunt For Red October' last night.
James Earl Jones played a CIA guy and another actor named Jones played a smart Techy sailor and was called 'Jonesy' throughout the film.
I kept muttering "OMG, this is an omen."
Lol.

As more player defections come, perhaps the biggest loss will be Mike Cragg.

Mike sounds like the type of professional who could have turned this dysfunctional circus show into a Division I Athletic Department.

Why the hell did they hire Cragg if they weren't going to let him do his job?? Assume they could have gotten a cheaper figurehead.
I could easily support any of Martin, Boynton or Anderson but hard to think of this as anything more than a wish and a prayer hire.. really depressing days in Johnny land.

Correct......with 20 years of documented mediocrity, this was his only chance to make the leap to a major conference.

It's not personal, I don't mean to slight him. This is about the right and wrong way to compete in the Big East, where nine other teams are running organized programs with high expectations.

My theory is that they hired the credibility and pedigree and figured someone who stayed at his old job for 3o+ years would be a good soldier.

You nailed it, JF. Cannot have said it better. 'It's not personal, not meant as a slight to the man', it's about being able to compete in a Conference in which ALL the other programs run on all cylinders, totally committed to being the best they can be.
We have not done that for 20 years and will not be doing that for another half-decade at minimum.
Sad days in Johnny Land.

hahaha[/quote]

Sorry, Liz, but even the worst coaching search in history doesn't change the fact that your husband was a horrible coach who refused to recruit.
